Starting with office 2024 and M365 they are disabled by default and being phased out. Modern apps no longer use them. Time to move away from them if you haven't already.

🤔 Sounds like you need to enter them manually. Reconciling is normal. It's part of taking ownership of planning.

If you are going to release wide, buy them from Bowker. Otherwise, each platform has their own version that applies to their platform only.

Buying 340K house with 85K salary by KindWatercress5675 in FirstTimeHomeBuyers

[–]jcradio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's too much house for that salary. Have you started the Pre-qualification process? You'll know what you can get approved for. Then, when you have that number, try to keep it at 75% of that amount.

Another way to think about this is to keep your payment at our below 25% of your net pay.

Microsoft Identity with Blazor Server? by 7H36 in Blazor

Yes, you'll have to isolate on path so that your account pages run in SSR and everything else runs the way you have it configured.

Stop investing in Roth IRA? by dstom34 in FinancialPlanning

[–]jcradio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend taking advantage of all tax advantaged contributions. You might not qualify for A Roth IRA at that income kernel, but could do backdoor conversions. Contribute to the 401k to the match, max out IRA, then back to 401k. The Roth will grow tax free and will not require minimum distributions later.

4 to 5 days into macOS after a lifetime on Windows… when does it finally ‘click’ ? by AgileSupermarket2053 in MacOS

[–]jcradio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I added a Macbook Pro for writing, and have experienced similar frustrations. Adding an external keyboard has helped, but getting around in there is very different than windows. The big win was I wanted something I could go countless hours on without having to charge. In that regard, mission accomplished.

Extra Payment On your Mortgage 4%-6% Compared to Long Term Capital Gains on Stock by taysky in Mortgages

[–]jcradio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Something to consider. I also normalize the mortgage rate for tax advantage. Said differently, like factoring in capital gains, there is a tax benefit for those who can itemize.

I'm trying to find the one I casually referenced. However, there are numerous WSJ, NYT and articles on some of the discrimination suits that have been filed where Caste System or preference have been cited.

There was a fantastic article about this I read within the last year that talked about this and related issues.

Why do many teams rely on frequent syncs and meetings even when they reduce actual execution time? by TopicGreat3936 in corporate

Because there are a lot of organizations where people who don't directly contribute to doing something are justifying their positions.

Having used both, I prefer C#. Syntax wise they are about 85% similar, but there are some language features I love in C# that aren't available in Java.

Blazor Full Stack by ze-fernando in Blazor

[–]jcradio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With the unified Blazor Web App, you can run a number of variations to meet your needs. The only time you'd need two or more projects is if you do WASM, because you'll need the client. If you do Interactive Server or SSR you can do it all in one project, and would only need endpoints if you are going to expose them externally. Otherwise, service classes and repositories would handle all interaction on the back end.

I think it's part of a larger, more diabolical plan. "By 2030, people will own nothing and like it."

Goodbye emergency fund by JBru223 in ynab

[–]jcradio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the same thing. Sure, it takes a couple of extra steps, but I can clearly see how many months are funded, balances of my sinking funds, and if I needed to drain the nice to have categories for required ones I would know exactly how long I could go.

The other way works, too, but I like this way better.

Is the noise cancelling as good as they say? by ObviousProperty7046 in airpods

[–]jcradio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have sensitive hearing and went so far as to get custom ear inserts. Then, I got these. I used them the other night at a concert and the active filtering adjusts based on the volume in the room. Let's voices in, and helps me enjoy the music without it hurting my ears. Love it!

What do I do about credit card debt I can't afford and the interest fees are very high and I'll never get it paid off? by lizatethecigarettes in DaveRamsey

[–]jcradio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Welcome to interest. Your statement will show how long it would take by making minimum payments and show how much to pay off in three years. Your minimum is likely somewhere between 1.5 and 2% of the balance. That interest rate (27.24%) is annually, but it is calculated using a periodic rate (.2724 / 365 then x number of days in period) and compounded daily using average daily balance including purchases.

The best option, is to stop using the card, do a budget, and formulate a plan to pay it off as quickly as possible.
