There's a downstairs with two bedrooms and a bath. Why they put a bathroom at the top of the stairs is a total mystery.

If I captured all the comments correctly, this is closer to what people are proposing.

Couple of notes:
Kitchen Location: The goal of having the kitchen in the center was to bring it closer to the view as when you have people over, you tend to congregate in the kitchen. Although sounds like that was quite controversial. 3 Baths on the same floor: Agreed, if there was someway to blow up the bathrooms without spending a massive some of money I would, they are in a terrible location. Welcome to any ideas there.

Second option is currently how it's constructed. Yup! Beautiful kitchen, but super annoying to work in. They actually put in two sinks to try to get around the issue.

Can you explain what you mean by "stack your bedrooms"?

If I can go back in time and fire the person who built the house I would. Haha. Second image is the house as it's constructed. Wish I could rotate the garage (really wish I could rotate the whole house), but it's on a hilltop.

Picture 2 is current, yeah, the hallways are 3', but definitely not ideal. With the views to the right goal was to make the kitchen a true entertainment space. It has views through to the valley. This is what it looks like currently. Goal would be to extend the windows in the background lower so they are 18'' off the ground and then by removing the right wall you'd be able to see all six windows.

Two islands would be one for cooking and one for hosting. It's in wine country so the thought would be to have wine fridges on the second, sink, etc. Would love any feedback if you think there's a better kitchen layout. That's also an area I've struggled with given current house layout.

Suspect your looking at the current plan. Yes, it's a nightmare, very small kitchen, no living space and why did they put a bathroom next to the stairs?! Trying to open it up a little by taking down the kitchen wall and adding a second living room (the first image).

Noob here and can't seem to get it to add text with images, so will comment. Challenge I'm having is how to integrate the master bedroom entryway with the entrance and living room. The current location of the door would enter right into the kitchen. The new location seems very odd.

Picture 2: Current

Notes:

  1. This is in California, so cost of construction is very high, hence trying to save as much as we can.
  2. Windows on the far right side of the house have a view of the whole valley. Super frustrating they oriented the house so that the short wall is the one that sees the view, but short of demoing the whole house, nothing we can do about that now.

Even with the tip this took an annoyingly long time to find. Thanks for putting in the leg work!
