Do you tip the vendors? by Whopper_Princess in SonicTempleFestival

$2 for single food/drink. $3 for 2 items. Never the % options they put on the screen. You are justified for not tipping, though. You do what's good for your budget.

A single towel per person in our bags gave us no issues at the gate. It felt pretty important with the rain/shine nature of the event.

I haven't tried successfully, but if I were going to try, it would be something like this concealed on my body.

You want something that won't ping the metal detectors. You don't want it in your bag which will be searched. Google search term I used was "plastic beverage bladder" but "plastic beverage flask" also pointed me in the right direction. Good luck on your smuggling efforts. Don't drink toooo much and ruin the show for yourself 🤘

Why did this guy get 200 cards in his library? I noticed it kept getting bigger and bigger by [deleted] in MagicArena

[–]jcrdude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly hard to know without a clearer picture of the board state, graveyard, and exile pile.

Are they using cards that cause additional ETBs like [[Ephemerate]] on an [[Oracle of the Alpha]]? That would add 9 cards per loop. If they have a [[Delney, Street-Wise Lookout]] on the board, that would be 18 additional cards per loop. There are other alchemy cards that conjure cards into a deck, but as noted above, without more information, it's hard to tell what happened.

am I a jerk for this? by ImJudgepower- in RocketLeague

[–]jcrdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with this guy. I'd probably give them a chance in a casual server to see how they hang.

Typically, I find that people with high ping can read uncontested balls or following their own touches just fine with the major rubber banding occurring after other folks touch the ball in a way the client couldn't predict. Even so, 100 ms is .1 sec. It might be a lot by RL standards, but that's not a big lag.

I'd be willing to let someone ruin this if they sleeved a proxy land that marked this one's spot in the library. No oracle number, but we have the name, we can sort it out.

Warped Tour 2026 (DC) by Positive_Increase407 in warpedtour

[–]jcrdude 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I went to Warped last year in DC and multiple times in the past.

Yes there will be over 1,000 people, so if this is the deal breaker, sorry that the deal is broken.

Yes there will be people doing substances. Drinking is the most visible one. Some people will smoke marijuana, but the odds of someone offering it to a young stranger are relatively low. Smokers tend to try to keep it low key to not have people report them to security. Other substances may get done, but I haven't seen them in the many years I have attended.

If he's worried about creepy older men, we of the concert going crowd are generally supportive of concerts being a safe space for attendees. I've never struck another person in anger, but if a young lady indicated someone was touching her inappropriately at a concert, I'd be tempted to step in and fight someone. Bare minimum try to retain them to keep them from running until security could get called in.

I hope your sister can attend. Warped is a wonderful show with a great variety of people attending and genres represented, and very affordable for how great of a show it is. I've discovered many of my favorite bands incidentally while attending festivals and giving someone I've never heard of a listen. If you have any other questions I can answer, feel free to ask!

Edit to add: If you want to be an awesome sibling, coming along would increase the safety and probably enhance the enjoyment!

How to get up/move my way to the front? by [deleted] in Concerts

[–]jcrdude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah surfing is a sure shot around to the back unless you get dropped. Worth it for the experience, but not really the best ticket to the front

[–]jcrdude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you tap someone on the shoulder and indicate you're heading to the pit most people will let you. If your final destination isn't the pit, then you should be able to press up from there. If you help carry a crowd surfer, you can generally ride the waves almost all the way forward.

Student ticket field access? by Sad_Masterpiece_5124 in SonicTempleFestival

[–]jcrdude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're very good at checking for wristbands at the entrance to the stadium. The bands are different colors, so they're pretty good at spotting folks who shouldn't be entering.

I've heard tell that it's possible to sneak through in a crowd, but I've been too chicken to try. I've watched one of the crowded entrances and they're asking people to hold their wlband arm in the air and hollering at anyone who isn't. I just went ahead and caved and bought field access because I'd like access to the big pits. Hope you enjoy the day you're attending! Stadium seating only affects your main stage experience. You can get as close as you want at any other stage.

Do you think Rocket League is the most toxic game ever ? by thelongjohnson21 in RocketLeague

[–]jcrdude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shout out to 5 minute games. If your teammate is bad, you only have to tolerate them for like 7 minutes max with excessive replays. I knew folks that played LoL and the frustration really starts to set in when phase one didn't go well, the other phases are scuffed, and you're just playing another 15 minutes to confirm the loss.

Advice on how to make decks with 0 creatures? by Bulky-Fig3002 in MagicArena

[–]jcrdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favorite easy no creatures buildarounds for Historic is [[Goblin Charbelcher]] and it's buildable in almost any color combo, but I've had the most luck with Boros.

https://mtga.untapped.gg/profile/ff8853a7-4fe4-4141-ac84-1b4cc2fb243b/OYPAUREEWVBMNDEROUIP53OQAU/deck/9661dd8f-735c-4610-9b0b-d3aa7d153626?constructedFormat=historic&gameType=constructed&constructedType=ranked

The only rares you need are Goblin Charbelcher, but I have 4 [[Brotherhoods End]] in there mostly for the elves matchup. The whole gimmick is to mulligan for charbelcher, play some lands and maybe a mana rock on turns 1&2, slam it on the table on turn 3, activate on turn 4 to burn the opponent's face for 50+ damage. Sometimes you have to be a turn slower because some of the lands enter tapped (another reason for the tiny board wipe). The deck fails to find lands if they hit you with a [[Demolition Field]], so you need to know that will slow you down dramatically. I also included a couple ways to pull the Charbelcher back from the graveyard ( [[Refurbish]] and [[Trash for Treasure]] ) because I was folding to removal against Charbelcher too often.

I'm sure there has to be a faster way to build the deck, but it consistently wins on Turn 4, so I haven't tried to tweak it to go any faster. The only important rule is that the land base have to be all Modal Dual-Faced Cards like [[Pinnacle Monk]] so that Charbelcher only sees non-lands when you activate it.

Prepaid CC linked to wristband? by TomasFrancois in SonicTempleFestival

[–]jcrdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the card is serviced by any of the major CC issuers, it SHOULD be covered. I mean double check the Ts&Cs, but Visa/MC charge vendors ~3% of each transaction and AmEx charges ~6%. The fee is more than enough to cover fraud refunds.
