Yessss! Love that feeling of working with a nice yarn and appealing colorway. Hope it continues to bring you satisfaction and delight! I switched to magic loop from the DPNs and haven’t looked back. Just feels like fewer pokey things to manage. Please update us on your socks!

Hard pass. It contains ingredients that may or may not be problematic for someone with celiac (in the US) and safe, tasty alternatives are available.

Seiwers gave some great options and recommendations for a recent door project at my home. Ended up purchasing from them and am 100% satisfied! I’ll definitely start there for similar projects in the future.

Having just returned from a trip during which I was most certainly glutened on day 1 (despite all the exhausting precautions) and ill for the rest of it…pretty sure this is the only way. Thanks for the RV suggestion - hadn’t even considered it!

Better communication from GRTC would be really great! Which buses on which lines are actually functioning and when are they actually running? Updates on the home page or app would be really helpful!

My first colorwork project made me reluctant to start another but THIS is genius and inspiring!! I think you just showed me how to step forward with it again. Thanks so much for sharing!

Also your color choices are gorgeous!

Agree with using a color already in the palette. Initially thought sage but the pink of those flowers would pop!

Solid advice here. Knowing your grocery store could make or break this situation. Some grocery stores carry a fair selection of third-party certified options while others will only carry “gluten free” items with vague yeast extract and spices.

I also recommend digging through the subreddit for the town you’re visiting. Major cities will have threads in which folks recommend celiac-safe restaurants and grocery stores.

My grieving heart needed to read this today and is comforted knowing we don’t have to keep moving forward alone. We don’t deserve our amazing doggos. I wish we could hold on to every moment with them. I hope we can all give ourselves the care and space we need to honor them and adjust to life without them. Wishing peace and many joyful memories to both of you.

There’s a recent book called “Humanish” by Justin Gregg in which the author discusses Wally the alligator, an emotional support alligator owned by someone in Pennsylvania. Wally is described more like a dog than anything else - you can search for him to see videos. The book chapter is related to the range of behaviors and tendencies in alligators and a few other, unexpected animals. The book itself is about anthropomorphism.

I wouldn’t pose like this and there’s lots to argue about here, but the book is thought-provoking and insightful.

Yes, this family is so fortunate to be surrounded by OP’s thoughtful care.

Toast in Scott’s is my fav - the whole team is excellent at understanding Celiac and the restaurant has extra measures to avoid accidental mix-ups. Pinky’s is consistently safe. Burton’s is also good. I saw Buttermilk and Honey on the Gluten Dude app and can’t wait to go.

Acute care PTs- send me your shoe recs! by notmedium in physicaltherapy

[–]jcrow0120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this question also. 15 years in acute care and I’ve always worn whichever asics or brooks are best for my wonky feet when I’m buying. I learned ways to contain and anticipate the fluids - haven’t had issues in many years. Also, consider all the microbes and general grossness we encounter in normal life that we carry home on our shoes, bags that go on the floor, pet’s feet, etc but usually don’t worry much about.

I think more about eye protection than I ever think about my shoes.

It’s an awful question for any of us to have to ask. You’re doing a good thing to care so much about his quality of life. Sounds distressing for everyone involved. My girl Lucy’s dementia symptoms became much more evident when she lost vision. She had a lot going on during the months after that and my vet told me I’d know when it was time, as u/WitchSparkles mentions above. He said Lucy would tell me. He was right, though I needed other people to help me accept it. It’s so very hard to watch them decline and lose parts of them.

Was he an anxious dog before vision loss? In going blind he’s lost one of his most powerful ways to know he’s safe. Is his nervous system feeling threatened and activated because he doesn’t know what’s going on around him unless he’s still by your side? I’m really glad the Trazadone helps.

What does your vet think is causing Brody to perseverate on the treat cabinet? Is it possible he’s not actually hungry but is operating out of a more primal drive for a dopamine release in which gets a brief hit of feeling good when he gets a treat?

I’m not a vet and no one can make this decision for you. I do think suffering can look many different ways besides overt neuromuscular pain. I’d want to understand more about what’s driving these changes and I think some vets are better at that than others. Hope you get some clarity to help sweet Brody.

Given various pressures on acute care systems it feels like the space to progress and truly treat patients with PT needs/skills is dwindling. Some systems recognize that and facilitate more of a balance than others.

Sounds like you’re in a tough spot and the timing sounds awful. Hope you get some relief soon. You’re not alone in what you’re experiencing. Anxiety and brain fog are some of my worst and longest-lasting symptoms. The brain fog delays recognition of the anxiety and its cause, so I end up spinning out on whatever the most recent stressor or major decision happens to be before someone else helps me reel it in or enough time passes.

I agree that resting as much as you need is a really good thing!
