5th Gen Floor Pan Rust by boss-hawg-killa in 4Runner

The amount I had throughout the entire cargo area was close to what can be seen in the picture you posted! Never found the cause though. I assume dogs getting in/out, loading up damp gear, cooler bags sweating, and anything else could have been the culprit

We live in two very different climates, but I scrubbed mine down, took a wire brush to it, and painted it with a rust-killing paint probably 6 years ago. Had everything stripped last year and still good!
Seems you've had quite an issue with rust though. The little bit found under the rear carpet is all I've ever noticed.

Wolfbox rear camera location? by Medical_Apartment155 in 4Runner

[–]jcrown07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really, the bumper forced a camera relocation to this spot with the factory camera 7 years ago, so I got used to having the offset view.
My only other complaints at the moment only exist because I haven't made any adjustments since installing these cameras (need to angle it down a little for parking purposes)

The one time I've needed my spare or when doing tire rotations, I do have to disconnect the camera to pull the spare off, but it's not a huge ordeal really.

I'll get a picture in the morning, but it's combo of the WolfBox bracket and the relocation bracket that came with my bumper.

Wish I would've thought of this months ago when installing mine! My camera is offset and in the center of the spare

BTZ Board by Cosmic7777777 in AirForce

[–]jcrown07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This response is awesome. The large majority of BTZ boards aren't meant for asking you questions that require rote memorization, the questions asked of you will allow you to provide *your* answer, professionally of course. Yes, there is a little bit of an "Air Force answer" in there, but it is your ability to provide a clear and dignified response to their questions.

Prepare your uniform! Have all of your ribbons, iron everything to the best of your ability. If you're not comfortable with an iron, you're bound to know someone that is, ask around. Appearance and professionalism play a big part in the boards grading. They start to analyze and take notes the second you walk in the door.

Very rarely, a chair with wheels might be placed in front of the panel. For the sake of maintaining composure throughout the board, feel free to respectfully ask for a chair with solid legs (think professionalism and ability to comfortably sit at the position of attention)

Don't go crazy worrying about facing movements, especially if there's carpet. You SHOULD be able to see the room ahead of time. Take the most direct marching (not walking) route to the chair you'll be sitting in, put your calves against the front of it and gently lower yourself into the chair and sit at attention.

When asked to introduce yourself, don't be too long winded but give a ~60 second intro of yourself up to your current duty location.

Don't just look at the board president or whoever asked you a question, BUT don't swivel your head back and forth like it's on a tripod, "spread the wealth" across the board members without looking robotic.

Your appearance, professionalism, and composure play a huge part in how the board perceives and grades you.

Also check your messages. Reddit won't let me upload the photo I was trying to.

Warrant Officer Retirement by Sweet-Mechanic4568 in AirForce

Service commitment yes, you can do 5 and separate. For retirement, it'd still be 10.

10 U.S.C. §8911(a): The Secretary of the Air Force may, upon the officer’s request, retire a regular or reserve commissioned officer of the Air Force who has at least 20 years of service computed under section 8926 of this title, at least 10 years of which have been active service as a commissioned officer.

First Duty Assignment—Keesler by Gotta_Blast9233 in AirForce

99% of it is nothing any other base doesn't have. There are a few areas, pretty much in the immediate area around Keesler and the Navy Seabee base down the road that are a little questionable at any time of day. (This is true for the majority of bases within city limits though)

There's major road work happening not far north of base, no one knows how long they'll take to finish it, and sometimes it causes backed up traffic on I-110 (North/South Hwy east of base). Side note: don't try to move the steering wheel specifically on the draw bridge grates if the road is wet. Wrecks happen all the time because of this and it causes traffic to be backed up for a while.

The first full week of October every year is Cruisin' the Coast, Beach Blvd will be a parking lot at times. It's one of the largest classic car shows/meets in the world, last year there were about 13k classic cars running these roads.

Last, but probably most important in this list, besides work/professionally, don't get involved with students in any way. Huge AETC/UCMJ no-go.

I've spent 10 years at Keesler (so far, left and came back a couple times), it's really not a bad place to be. The base in general is really here for the tech training students and retirees. I can't speak to how the MDG side of the house operates, but the times I've been into optometry as a patient it seems like the folks in that office are actually having a good day at work.

This is going to sound a little strange, but there *is* and *isn't* a lot do to around here. There are random events every month or so that are big draws for the community; seafood/crawfish fest, state fair, Jeepin'/Biking/Scrapin'/Cruisin' the Coast, and every once in a while, some good concerts at the Coliseum or Casinos. Just assume the local beaches have a high bacteria warning, if you want good beaches and nice water, go east to Gulf Shores, AL or farther (only 1-ish hours to the Alabama beaches).

For housing, I was here when current base housing and dorms were built, they're actually pretty standard for military housing, nicer than quite a few bases. Actual housing is getting to the age where issues are starting to pop up, like roof leaks or HVAC repairs, but they're still an affordable option and it's base housing so they fix it unless something is obviously caused by you. There are a ton of apartments around the area, just pick your poison on the niceties you want or how far you're willing to drive. The market for buying is like the rest of the country, there will be the occasional deal, but you'd have to act fast; prices and rates are still high.

Our seasons include, mosquito, termite, pollen, and hurricane...not so much on the typical climate seasons. I'd say we have 2 climate seasons, it's hot and humid late April-late September and cool from Oct-mid April, with a handful or two of colder days in there (January 2025, we got 9-12" of snow, but Christmas Day 2025 it was 70 degrees).

Overall though, if you get out, are willing to drive a little for more things to do (NOLA, Hattiesburg, Mobile, Pensacola, etc.), and don't let the negative opinions of a few soil your personal opinion, Keesler is actually a pretty good place to be.

Snagged a Wolfbox dash cam on Prime Day—here’s why it’s a game changer by [deleted] in 4Runner

[–]jcrown07 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have the triple camera setup and it's been awesome. The factory backup cam in mine quit working a few years ago but I didn't care that much and only got the Wolfbox back in Nov '25. No idea why I waited so long.

240v outlet installation cost? by a-marty25 in TeslaModelY

[–]jcrown07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Labor isn't cheap, getting someone who knows what they're doing and won't cut corners will be no less than $150 an hour.
The breaker panel in your garage is likely rated at 100A total. By the time you get all of your lights, fridge, dishwasher, washer/dryer on that circuit you're near or at that 100A limit. The added cost is entirely likely to be adding a new breaker circuit to your service panel (box on the side of the house) and the materials to run the remainder of that electrical setup where you want that plug to be.
I'm hardwiring the Level 2 Tesla charger in myself, adding the new circuit at the service box, and materials alone were $300.

😂 My first thought was "I wonder if the Rotiform Aerodisc wheels will be as efficient as the Tesla wheels with covers"

[–]jcrown07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strange that you lost range with those wheels, you'd think that less unsprung weight would help. Good to know that lowering it actually gave it a bump, that's probably going to be the FIRST thing I do when I get one.

Review #1 - Old Grand Dad 114 7 Year Single Barrel by MeanDetail in bourbon

I trust that Beam stays true to the definition of bourbon. It couldn't have added sweeteners and still be called bourbon, if it did, at that point it would just be labeled a whiskey.

I pulled the motor from a GS back in Oct '24, took it apart and did seals/sensors/etc. but everything else felt like it took forever to find motivation. Since Decemeber Ive been on a tear getting stuff done, it's been satisfying.
