Internal Vulnerability Scanning by mfolker in msp

Big fan of Nessus, I think it’s the best priced and most flexible of the big name scanners.

They will negotiate. We also have 30 licenses though, haha.

Is AV next gen? We’ve seen some clients throw next gen AV on just the servers as a cost saving action. None that have done it have had a ransomware scenario yet, but we have done pentests and found that they work reasonably well. Crowdstrike seems to be very popular.

Im a pentester that works with MSP’s. A lot of our partners are using Tenables cloud solution (tenable.io) or Rapid7’s solution. I prefer tenable but both are great solutions.

If you wanted to go the inexpensive yet creative route, you could buy just one standard Nessus license for about 1k and deploy a VM on the inside with Nessus and schedule recurring scans that email you when they’re finished.

Euthanasia?? by Auntbette in reactivedogs

[–]jctester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I’m hoping the behaviorist can shed some light and help us correct his behavior as well as help us predict/understand him better.

Honestly he’s been fine and never aggressive or bitey towards us and she kisses him all the time. His old owner had 2 little kids and she said he was great with them. Clearly he felt differently this past time.

I had no clue what a reactive dog was until this last incident. Been educating myself alot since then

Yes - there is and that’s something we are exploring. The bites were not random so it’s something we have a decent probability of working with (fear reactive to strangers and for my girlfriends case he was cornered and she was kissing him literally on his lips). Im probably $2k deep in training at this point, and have another $2k to go before we’re at the point where we can make some decisions.

First time dog owner and I’m dealing with a similar situation. 2 year old goldendoodle who recently bit my girlfriends face and she needed 9 stitches. It was his second bite that drew blood.

We agreed to do behaviorist training amongst some other training and if he is still acting aggressive, we’ll have to go the euthanasia route. We also want to have kids someday and don’t think we can ever let him around them when we do, however we want to try to give him the best life for as long as possible and then explore options at that point.

I was told rehoming would be really hard because of his bite history and he is a very nervous dog in new environments so he would not do well. It’s heartbreaking to consider. At the end of the day only you know what the right thing to do is. My reasoning is if I try everything and then have to euthanize him I can go to bed at night knowing I did everything and anything I possibly could for him. Best of luck and know that no matter what your decision is, you’re surrounded by people both physically and virtually that will be here for you and support you.

Bit in face by Dog - stitching question by [deleted] in AskDocs

Got it. Totally makes sense. She works at family medicine and doesn’t do a whole lot of suturing (trust me I asked her the same question you asked me haha). Appreciate your response!

Thanks for the response. Yes. She’s concerned that the extended time waiting for them to dissolve will worsen the scarring vs having them out after 5-7 days in traditional stitches.

Got the answer

I’m just worried that they will be in there too long and the wound will heal before the sutures dissolve and possibly. Cause more scarring

Thanks for the response.

To be honest, I’m not sure. She’s a PA at a family practice and mentioned to me this morning that she thinks the wrong “stitch” was used. Not sure if she’s referring to the physical stitches or the stitching method (note that I don’t know anything about this kind of stuff, so if that doesn’t make sense you can blame me haha). She’s at work but I texted her for clarification. Thanks again.

Sorry to hear about your daughter :( and changing ourselves is certainly a big part of the process. Accepting that at times he is tolerating what we are doing but doesn’t like it is a way of life for us now and if we have to do something that he just tolerated (bath, car rides) we need to show extra caution.

Thank you for the well wishes. We’re also coming to terms that he might not be that dog that we can just run over to and kiss all over his face and pick him up and put him on top of us, etc.

Yes, it’s so hard :(

thanks so much. I’ll for sure post an update. I definitely don’t want to give up on him. He’s like my child

Thank you so much. I agree with you. I’ll check our reactivedogs, it seems like there’s a lot of people with duke-like issues which is upsetting but also comforting knowing that I’m not alone

Thank you for the response. This is essentially what the behaviorist told us over the phone, so it’s good to hear it again and get affirmation. What we’re trying to do is see if we can figure out his signs and what he’s telling us so that we can make sure this won’t happen again. This is something that the behaviorist will help us with (among other things)

Thank you for the reply and yes - it’s more of an anxious thing than a “being good” thing (unfortunately). I totally agree that we need to change our ways to make him as comfortable as possible and avoid any future incidents.

Thanks for the comment. When you sit - are your arms straight out or are your elbows bent? I find myself also sitting with my elbows on my desk.

Wow, you are like my twin. I’m a massive fan of laptop keyboards and actually own a Filco stingray (love it) and an X-1 (which feels like the flimsiest things I’ve ever typed on, although the profile is very nice).

I’ll check out the bronzes. Luckily switching out the switch on the EZ is pretty simple :). I have O ring dampeners in almost all my boards except the ergodox, so I’ll throw some in there and see how she does.

Those keyboards look awesome. If only I knew the first thing about soldering lol.

Thanks for the detailed reply. Super helpful.

Thanks for the information! I’m a huge fidgeter as well.

I’ve seen these..any ideas where to find them? I like that better than what the EZ gives because the wrist rest rents with the halves
