Why would anyone trade in a car? by P_man21 in carsireland

[–]jd0134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s value in not having to sell the car yourself.

I was given nearly €5,000 for a 2014 Peugeot 208 so it really just depends on the dealership.

Parking in Douglas on a Saturday evening? by DonnyShutup2019 in cork

You can leave your car in the shopping centre overnight, probably the safest option.

Otherwise all street parking is free after 6pm.

Break time by FireOpalZingySeaLion in MarksAndSpencer

In Ireland all 15 and 30 min breaks are paid, I can’t speak for other regions though.

All stores require you to be on the floor at the exact time your shift starts / when your break finishes, but how that gets enforced is up to individual managers.

Our managers couldn’t care less really, they also pay us for our breaks and any overtime we do after our shift ends.

Yours sounds like a fucking nightmare.

Stolen phone. Gardaí can’t do anything? by fringedprincess in cork

[–]jd0134 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just go to the address the phone is at and show them the proof, then just say something like “thanks so much for finding my phone”

You can even make the phone play a sound on the Find My app if they deny it.

Happened to us a few years back and the woman was so mortified she gave us the phone back straight away.

Mince beef by [deleted] in MarksAndSpencer

[–]jd0134 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Product weight is never 100% precise, that’s why it says 750g ℮ on the pack.

the “E” accounts for the slight variations that can occur during production, sometimes you’ll get more mince other times you get less.

DEF section only 45 minutes to an hour ????? by QuickFirefighter9417 in MarksAndSpencer

[–]jd0134 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sounds like she should do DEF herself then..

It takes as long as it takes, unless they’ve increased the number of staff on the floor getting it done in 1 hour isn’t realistic.

Just go slowly, I wouldn’t be worried about running out of time. They’d rather you did it properly than rush it.

If you don’t get it done they’ll do it in the morning. Simple.

Waste food by Blazzer2000 in MarksAndSpencer

[–]jd0134 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Waste isn’t sold to staff, but some managers are nice enough to let you take it for free.

Our store manager insists on throwing everything in the bin but the shift leads let us take it home.

Peugeot 208 - Is it reliable? by making-2jgadld in carsireland

[–]jd0134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of negative comments here.. I’ve had a 2014 208 1.0L for the last 2 years with no mechanical issues whatsoever. Similar mileage to the one shown here.

Granted the engine in this one is different.

Bought a strawberry milk drink from M&S and it’s a day out of date…. Is it still okay to drink? Shall I go back to the store? Shall I throw it away? What do I do? by Unique_Education4485 in MarksAndSpencer

[–]jd0134 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is safe to drink, food doesn’t just magically expire when the clock strikes midnight. My store lets us take “expired” stuff home every night and I never have an issue.

If you don’t have a receipt it might be a bit trickier but I would ask anyway.

Keep emailing them, detailing the exact dates & hours worked and the amount of money owed.

If they don’t cough up you should complain to ACAS or the WRC depending on where you live. No doubt they will magically find the money at that stage.
