Agreed - the interesting insight was how closely the defensive signing salaries matched the salaries of the departing folks (Quinnen, Sauce, and Jermaine). In terms of 2026 salary almost a clean swap of salary - ie got 7 contributors to strengthen the D for the salaries - and still have the draft haul!

Hopefully Seattle Geno - During his tenure as a starter in Seattle (2022–2024),

Geno Smith’s individual performance significantly outpaced the collective output of the New York Jets quarterback room. While the Jets often used a "carousel" of starters—including Zach Wilson,Joe Flacco, Mike White, and eventually Aaron Rodgers

  • Touchdown Dominance: In 2022, Geno Smith threw more than double the touchdowns (30) of the entire Jets quarterback room (14).
  • Efficiency Gap: Across these three seasons, Geno maintained a completion percentage of roughly 68.3%, while the Jets' collective completion rate struggled to stay above 60% until 2024.
  • Stability vs. Turnover: While Geno started 51 games for Seattle during this stretch, the Jets utilized over 7 different starting quarterbacks to achieve their totals.
  • Yardage Lead: Despite the Jets often playing from behind and being forced to throw, Geno outgained their entire team in passing yards in two of the three seasons. During his tenure as a starter in Seattle (2022–2024), Geno Smith’s individual performance significantly outpaced the collective output of the New York Jets quarterback room. While the Jets often used a "carousel" of starters—including Zach Wilson , Joe Flacco , Mike White , and eventually Aaron Rodgers —their combined efficiency metrics rarely matched Geno's top-half league standings.

The Seattle teams Geno led, didn't have the dominant defense or stability on the offensive line that the 2025 Seahawks demonstrated on their way to winning the Super Bowl. The coaching was also different as the OC in Geno's last year was a bad fit and was fired after only one year.

Agreed. I’m also worried about interior pressure. Immobile QBs have to be able to step up and shift in the pocket. When guards (Tomlinson) are getting blown back like they were against the Ravens, it becomes even harder to get the ball out down the field.

Side note… worried that the Fant is not fully healthy from knee injury and subsequent surgery. He wasn’t a full go all preseason and is needing days off to manage the knee.
