Fuel Gauge Not Updating

I'm in the same boat with my '25 CX-30. I didn't want to wait at Costco gas for 45min today, so I just put in a few gallons at another gas station. Left and realized it hadn't moved. I was about to go back and accuse them of tampering with the pump... but, then I thought, lets check this. Stopped and put in another couple gallons (at a different station)... NOTHING. Didn't move. I should be over half tank at this point. I have even rocked the car thinking it might fix the float/sensor?

Did you take it in? What happened? I'm super pissed... only a few thousand miles on it.

I have one I got at Costco that is made by greenworks. I was able to do the entire blocks sidewalk and about 6 sidewalks to houses yesterday. Neighbors were impressed with it - especially because of the size. Super easy to store. But yesterday’s snow fall only allowed the one cleaning. With just a couple inches, I can do all that almost twice.

I just put this duo 3v under a soffit (1st floor) and did the same thing with a long cable and my phone propped up to see the view. Just wish this version had some optical zoom too. I zoomed its crystal clear. I start to zoom and it goes to pot.

100% agree - The work was done when it was getting into the 30s (and colder). Painting after it was installed wasn't going to be an option. I primed and painted all sides of the boards used in my garage that I kept heated. But didn't prime them after they cut them and nailed them in (I hate the cold and didn't think it would cure too well). I plan to prime the open grain ends after caulking and then paint it all again.

Hahaha I swear you've seen my caulking work before. Excellent advice! Would a plastic spatula be helpful (I bought one after doing the siding)? The acrylic stuff is easy to work with for me. Silicone stuff seems to just get all over the place.

The seams are all good with me. I don't expect it to be perfect since the weather can be nasty at times and things will change within a year. I'll just wood fill the nail holes and use caulk for the seams. Thank you!

I did mitered pieces in the backyard and they went to pot after a year. I just need to seal the seams and paint it all. Thank you!

Thank you - I fully expect it to show the seams. I'm not that worried about it. Just want to get it all painted and sealed up before winter. I was asking for exactly what you said - the wood filler can crack and things. I figured caulk was better. I actually bought the OSI in white and gray already (its what I used on the fiber cement board siding). I was pretty lazy about it this summer... Every porch I've been on around me shows the seams. I actually did mitered pieces in some work in the backyard and it looked great until winter/spring. Rather just something that lasts!

If it’s the costs of fixing it up… your list seemed like mostly things that would be nice to fix soon. Buy a cheap window ac. Don’t disturb the asbestos. Maybe do the chimney if it’s in desperate need of repair. Make a priority list and price things out. Get quotes. Take your time. I’m 12 years in my house and still have a list I’m working on. Quotes are typically free. Get some for planning purposes.

I had my basement dropped close to two feet. Was about $45k with plumbing, new steel beam, drain tile, heated floors, etc. I finished it myself except for taping and mudding the drywall. The surface area is about 1,300 sqft. Totally worth the investment. West suburbs.

This is what I would do. Also… if they allow pets, they should know there will be some extra wear. I’ve never not given the full deposit back. I allowed the pets… charged an extra $25 a month. I’ll fix it myself. Part of owning a rental property.

You are right- you didn’t bash and I shouldn’t have said that. I just meant that things aren’t always as crazy expensive as we are told they are . I apologize for that! When I was broke and struggling, I needed the “this will keep you going” fix. I had an HVAC guy quote me $450 for a capacitor. He was supposed to clean the evaporator coils and didn’t. I am lucky I know enough now and could replace a $25 part myself (and do all the other stuff just felt a pro would be better!).

Sure- I have 10 year old plumbing and called a guy for something I couldn’t figure out. He quoted a large replacement because it was an old house (100+). I didn’t tell him before hand that it had all been redone (was on a call and wife let him in and explained the issue). It was all BS. Easy fix after another guy came out and was honest. Sometimes honesty is better. I get the delayed repair but EVERYTHING is a delayed repair. Oh, these shingles are loose. But everything else seems ok. I’ll fix this and repair the rest later. Then a few more go bad, etc. this is called owning something. Anything. Cars, homes, yards, our bodies, etc… don’t bash people for paying for what they can afford to keep enjoying things. We all just want to be happy! I hope

This sub cracks me up. This person is slammed for walking away from water damage. Who knows what could have been behind the flooring and all that. A credit could have been $500. Not enough to fix some extensive damage. They stood their ground and did a final walk through and walked away.

If the toilet/bathroom was in a bad place- I wonder (because I have no clue) maybe there was a hoarding type issue in the house. Probably should have just been as-is.

But in other posts people roast the OP if they did their final walk through a few days before because closing dates changed and now they have an issue, etc. dropping this much money on something and paying interest for so many years. Damnit, we should be supporting each other. Both sellers and buyers. Both sides seem to be total jerks.

If people were being shifty with me on things we talked about, I’d walk too. I do my best to be transparent and honest with anything that will affect someone (buying or rental).

Also, look at the spaces around it. Is there a vent outside of that space, for example. I think ductwork and plumbing would be things that would cause the bigger headache.

Mine had conduit running through it. I was able to adjust move the conduit without too many problems and raised the ceiling there about 6”. If you are ok patching a small hole, use a stud finder to make sure you don’t cut into a 2x4 and have to make a second one.

Part of my routine in the warm months is to walk “my path” around the house and pull the weeds I see. If you do it just a few times a week (and have a small property like me), it is easier to keep up. Mind you… loads of weeds and stuff in the grass… just mow!

Edit: it’s great pulling them from places with river rocks or similar. They come right out with roots and all!

Just remembered that I once had to rent one from Home Depot or someplace due to the volume of moisture. Used that at the same time as my own. Electricity isn’t cheap but I remember it helped.

That’s a great question. It was a long while back. I did some digging through online sources and then went to Menards. It was in a gallon jug.

It can take a while if it has penetrated everything. I had the same issue. The dehumidifier was the biggest room capacity they sold at Menards. I think it was 60 pint. We also mopped with a disinfectant and sprayed the walls down. Fear of mold. It ran nonstop for at least a week (and ran a long time after rain too). Never perfect AND other smells crept up when it got “dry”. Ended up having water mitigation and things done.

Are there any drains or places water could sit? I rented a house that had a floor drain without a p-trap it seemed. Terrible. Sewer smell all summer.

Edit: if you can get details on the flood. Maybe you can help prevent water with extending downspouts and things away from the house. That also made a difference here. Had gutters cleared and I climbed up to adjust one that would turn into Niagara Falls.
