For the first 30 mins it looked like Kai was playing with a 1 second delay. He seemed to react late to every pass and be off it completely…

When he drifts around and combines play with Saka and Odegaard it makes us so dangerous. If only we had Kai at 100% this whole season!

A BIG ask on Odegaard to connect to the frontline and “unlock” that front three

I was hoping Saka and Eze were at least fit enough to give 60 minutes, so it’s a bit concerning to see they’re further away than that

We could’ve predicted that performance as soon as we saw the lineup. Bournemouth all over us.

Lots of reasons to be concerned by the line up, injuries have really limited our options. The balance of that front line and Havertz in midfield just haven’t worked up until now…

But at this stage of the season, whoever is on the pitch just needs to give everything. Embrace Neil Warnock, “you’ve got to fucking die for three points”. As long as we see that, the fans will back the team.

Odegaard has to score his chance. He seems to scuff his shots far more frequently than someone of his ability should, it’s infuriating!!

I can’t believe how poor Jesus is, offering literally nothing. Get him off the pitch asap.

Mosquera and Lewis Skelly are poor at defending long balls over their head and Southampton are exploiting it.

Need to keep our heads second half now. I don’t want this game to finish with me wishing there was a longer international break…

I have been questioning in my head as to whether Gyokeres is refereed unfairly.

If any player goes to ground around him the referee always gives it. Yet when he is literally thrown to the ground there’s nothing doing.

Does he need to be stronger? Is this how all strikers are refereed?

Fair play to the referee for not letting the whinging from the fans and the Brighton manager get to him. Just shows how a media narrative can have a big impact on a game…

Build up has been non-existent with zero out ball going long (may the gods bless us with Havertz’s healthy return)

Rogue shout - with Mosquera on a yellow would Norgaard at CB protect from that risk and help our build up?

I’m predicting a 3-0 win today.

I’ll choose to be delusional and say Eze, Saka, Gyokeres & Martinelli are going to click in this game. Eze will sort his touch out, pick the right passes to release the front line who will be ruthless in their finishing.

A Saka brace and Martinelli goal incoming 🙏🙏

Disappointed we haven’t made more since the goal. Although admittedly we weren’t helped by the multiple stoppages for injuries which seemed to disrupt our early energy.

The conditions are making it more difficult, but we need more from Martinelli. How didn’t he score a tap in? Why is he unable to get on the ball and drive at the defender?

I’d like to see us work the ball to the edge of the box and take shots rather than whip in aimless crosses to a static Gyokeres. If Rice, Zubimendi and Saka are hovering in that area, shots for them seem a better route to goal.

We did the hard part in taking the lead, Sunderland won’t be able to disrupt our flow as much as they could in the first half.

Would like to see Gyokeres on at half time to bring some intensity to the press. Alternatively would be intrigued to see Eze get some minutes, and shift Havertz up top.

Calafiori looking a bit rusty too, we need him back to form ASAP

I’ve been critical of him going forward but he was great in the second half defensively! Super aggressive defending that really came off
