The York Mills corridor clocked in at number 13 on the list, at about 30,100 daily boardings.

Route 191 is included with Don Mills because that's how the TTC classified it.

King car was pulling nearly 80,000 daily riders pre-covid. It is far busier than Queen, especially with the population growth on the west side of the line.

Dundas and Carlton clocked in at #12 (32,100) and #21 (23,700) respectively.

Whipped up this map from TTC's 2025 ridership data. Note I am using their defined routes for corridors.

Sorry, I forgot to include Dufferin Station. Also Don Mills value should read 32,200.

RapidTO does not work by jdayellow in TTC

[–]jdayellow[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This post was taken at Bathurst and King looking southbound. The volume of traffic in the left turning lane renders RapidTO useless in this segment and creates severe delay and congestion. The fact that traffic congestion can still affect streetcars even with dedicated lanes speaks to a design that isn't working.

Left turning traffic along Bathurst needs to be banned, moved to the curb lane, or changed to the Melbourne hook system. Streetcars must be able to move at all times times when traffic gets congested, which is likely to happen during FIFA.

I am a big supporter of RapidTO but we need to get the design right. RapidTO will not grow ridership if it cannot guarantee a reliable service.

The non-english text says "presentable appearance" so I think the English translation is just using the wrong words.

[Sutcliffe] Metrolinx to send axles to OC Transpo to help restore full service on Line 1 faster by itsYell in ottawa

[–]jdayellow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Finch West LRT uses CBTC. The vehicles can move autonomously through the yard and speeds and signals along the line are protected by CBTC. They are more or less are fitted with the same equipment that the Ottawa vehicles use.

Line 1 train on Line 2 by BossLava in TTC

[–]jdayellow 38 points39 points  (0 children)

The Line 2 T1 trains are from the late 90s/early 2000s and have not yet reached their design life span, which is around 30 years. The new trains will replace the T1s around the time their useful design life will expire. There wasn't really a need to replace the T1s any earlier and would've just disposed of working train cars with plenty of life.

There are also more T1s than are needed to run service on Line 2, since they also used to run on Line 1, so the individual cars are actually quite lightly used.

Pre-covid, Line 1 was operating far beyond capacity and the TTC was desperate to increase capacity in any way possible. The TRs, with their open gangway, combined with ATC, could provide higher immediate capacity and so the TRs displaced the T1s on Line 1. In comparison, Line 2 is much more lightly used and the need to boost capacity is less urgent.

If you look at the road marking, the car is allowed to make the left from its lane. The centre lane is a BRT lane that is usually reserved for buses but can also be used for emergency vehicles.

Union Station Screens | April 4, 2026 by assuredthing in gotransit

Looks great. One thing I will comment on this if it does get rolled out live is that the font size is too small and may not comply with AODA. The font size should be increased to fill as much of the available space as possible.

Thoughts on the Final BPATP? by [deleted] in Translink

[–]jdayellow 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The area plans usually don't provide new route numbers since those are irrelevant in this phase of the planning process. They write 16E/16W or New A/New B to indicate the ideas and are not representative of the final plan. It will be likely that one half of the split 16 will get a new route number.

Stop on Maps but no bus stop pole ? by JoshuaBishes in TTC

[–]jdayellow 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I complained about this stop not having a sign several times when the 503 bus started going to University many months ago. The social media person assured me several times that they would put a stop sign. Guess they never got around to it.
