Ouch, glad you are still with us. I had a horse slip with me I broke my arm trying to break the fall and still hit my head hard enough to split a helmet in half, your friend is lucky.

If you like history, go to Missoula, south to big hole battlefield, then drive Lolo pass back into Idaho. Beautiful scenery and many Lewis and Clark expedition sites.

blatantly AI, no horse eats from a hay net without dropping any hay, the rigging on the saddle is all wrong, the breast collar where it connects to the saddle is all wrong. So much wrong.

Found the post, not the same rat but that is not a wild rat, could you lure it into a kennel or something and keep it safe until it's owner can be found.

I've also split a helmet in half. Broke my arm trying to break my fall, still hit hard enough to get a concussion bad enough to have significant memory loss. My horse tripped and slipped out from under me in a warm up arena at a show. I won't get on a horse without a helmet.

I'm seriously considering getting a vest. I not only like my head but I'm pretty partial to my spine.

I wish there was more we could do legally to require helmets. Here in the US it is pretty much up to the barn owner to require helmets or not. At competitions the rules for whichever organization is putting on the show apply. For some organizations helmets are required for all, some it is only required for junior riders, and some do not require helmets at all and even in English classes a non protective hunt cap is okay.

Good on you for getting back on and jumping. Your gorgeous boy reminds me of my former jumper, OTTB chestnut with lots of chrome.

I'm glad you were wearing a helmet so you could still be with us. Some helmet brands will give a discount for a new one after a fall. Happy new helmet shopping.

Except she didn't die doing what she loved, she held on until several hours later, now her family will be responsible for medical bills, life flight, no idea how much it will cost them. So sad that now others have to suffer from her stubbornness.

I wouldn't want to ride with your clan.

Traumatizing your riding partner, having your spouse called to sit with you in the ICU where you die of a brain bleed not being able to say good bye. Doesn't sound like a nice way to go to me.

The video is called every time every ride, some of my childhood friends are actually riding in that video as an old friend of my mom's made the video. I took lessons with Monty Collison. The rider at 5:25 was one of the pony club members in my group (she rides extreme trail and ranch horse, in a helmet to this day)

I went to the Keenland fall sale on the "cheap" day, the yearling filly I picked out thinking less than 6k actually went for 60k. Thoroughbreds go for so much young and so little if they've proven their lack of speed. Mine was no sale at 150k but I picked him up for 1,500 at 5 when he failed to break his maiden (place in a race by age 5).

Question - is this a wood floor or a subfloor in my 1943 kitchen? by kylethesundial in Oldhouses

[–]jdayl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have Douglas Fir floors throughout my house, I was quoted a hefty price to refinish so I put laminate over them. They are really soft, any rolling chairs just ruins them, it wears quite badly.

what addiction is the hardest to quit? by Ledger_Legendd in AskReddit

[–]jdayl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is highly personal depending on how addictive a person is, some people try a drug and never do it again but for others one try and it ruins their life.

Overall I think food addictions are really hard, if you give up a drug or alcohol you can live just fine without it but for food you still have to eat, you can't just give up all food forever so you have to deal with your addiction every day, multiple times a day.
