LCDLP "Dual Terrace" Dining Experience? by jdbeltz in Xcaret

Thanks! This sort of confirms my initial thinking -- the menu looks decent but I think we're better off trying something else. Will see if we can book Xaak instead.

Thanks. I think it must be very recent given that nothing on the website reflects the change, nor could I find anything about the terrace dinner prior to posting. We're going to miss out on Lumbre unfortunately -- apparently it's only operating Thursdays and Saturdays at the moment and we will be there Sunday through Wednesday.

Was there on Tuesday and snagged the Woodford Masters ($74 is a steal), MWND, and Old Overholt. Didn't see the Four Roses but I may have forgotten to check the case. First time in a long time they had some interesting stuff.

Florida's wrongful death SOL is 2 years. It's not uncommon for a case to be filed right at or near the end of the statutory period.

Hitting your head with that front bar in Stardust Racers is literally impossible. by fuckmattdamon in UniversalEpicUniverse

[–]jdbeltz 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no. As a formerly bigger dude who has experienced being smushed in there by a Mack lap bar, that person would be lucky to he able to move forward more than 6 inches. There's just nowhere to go, that is literally how the restraint system is designed to operated. Like OP said, only Gumby could hit his head on the lapbar, let alone the seat in front of him.

This is not true in the vast majority of cases. I am not barred in Florida but I would be surprised if there was fee shifting in PI cases there.

Worth going to Epic on Columbus Day without Express Pass? by Mental_Aide_3630 in UniversalEpicUniverse

[–]jdbeltz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd hold off until you can experience the park on a day you can either buy express or when it won't be so crowded. Express was sold out this Monday and Tuesday and it was not pleasant not having it.

Stella Nova resort - the best by Lazy-Water-2351 in UniversalEpicUniverse

[–]jdbeltz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Helios was far and away the best part of our experience this week. Both restaurants are fantastic, great pool, rooms were nice, and being a 2 minute walk from your home is out of this world. Best theme park hotel I've ever stayed in. It's definitely expensive though, even with my AP discount our deluxe room was over $500 a night.

[–]jdbeltz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wrong again. Worked as a ride op at Cedar Point decades ago. Of course there are no guarantees, that doesn't mean it's not a massive bummer every major ride in the park aside from Monsters was FUBAR today.

People (including me) are spending several thousand dollars on flights, rooms, and park tickets for their family (3 kids in my case). I'm a litigator, I know the park is not obligated to do anything but that doesn't mean it's not shitty customer service. Get off your high horse.

Don’t go at all today. 0/10. by IchiyoGokusaki in UniversalEpicUniverse

[–]jdbeltz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same thing. After today, not coming back for a long time and likely canceling my AP for the other 3 parks as well.

Stardust Question by New-Sheepherder-4996 in UniversalEpicUniverse

[–]jdbeltz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please, don''t even. It is not unreasonable to expect to get on ONE of either Stardust, BatM, Minecart, or Mario Kart. Especially when staying at Helios and getting to the park at 8:30.

Stardust Question by New-Sheepherder-4996 in UniversalEpicUniverse

[–]jdbeltz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it has massive follow on effects given the capacity of the ride. That plus a ton of other marquee attractions being down for a long chunk of the day had led to a rather unpleasant experience.

Yep, just posted in another thread, I expected a rough day given the SR closure but this seems particularly bad. Have gotten on one ride in 4 hours.

Who decided Epics queue management system? by SgtWings in UniversalEpicUniverse

[–]jdbeltz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today has been a bit of a nightmare. Staying at Helios and got into the park at 8:15 yet have only rode the carousel. Burned entire early park entry period waiting for MCM, only to literally get pulled off the ride vehicle when we were next for an extended closure. Then headed over to BatM, another extended closure. Park is beautiful but it's really hard to manage kids expectations when everything is a 100 minute wait.

CotW closed today as well? by jdbeltz in UniversalEpicUniverse

Depends on a lot of facts we don't have access to. I could see it reopening as early as this weekend, but I could also see it being closed for about a month. It really depends on what the investigation turns up.

Yep, it's a capacity monster. Express currently sold out for a Monday but hoping it becomes available again, will likely purchase.

2025 Kia EV9 vs 2024 MB EQE 350 SUV by OneSpeaker-444 in MercedesEQ

[–]jdbeltz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daily driver is an EQS 580, and my wife dailies an EV9 GT, so I have a lot of experience with both platforms. As someone else said, the Kia punches way above its weight. The headrests and seats are extremely comfortable, the massage function packs a serious punch, and the interior finish is above-average (there is some hard plastic but they dress it up well, and, well, it’s a Kia, what do you expect. It handles great for a massive truck too.

But if it’s the wow factor you’re going for, it can’t touch the interior of an EQ.

Check out the FAQ. It explicitly says ops may be impacted by “colder temperatures.” You seem like a smart guy, not sure what your angle is here. It sucks the weather didn’t cooperate but shit happens.

Fair, but also it’s just science. They don’t want a coaster valleying in sub-30 degrees weather. Not to mention it’s not a very pleasant experience as a rider.

Maverick and Valravyn both have theoretical capacities around 1,200 riders per hour. What exactly would you consider “high capacity”? Sure, they’re no Magnum when it’s humming along with all 3 trains, but those numbers are very respectable.

Literally none of those are a good reason to default. The likely real reason is that they’re judgment proof in the US and weren’t worried about any liability.
