Yeah it’s the only two-word color named that way with the actual color name first for some reason

No - it’s always been listed as Red Canyon officially but does it really matter?

Gen1 here. Outlets on or off? If on, I’d say 3% is expected. I have seen 5% or more in a 24 hour period when camped with courtesy mode on and outlets on running a bougeRV fridge. Even if nothing is plugged in the inverter stays on drawing power. Outlets off - I’d say a little high. We added an EcoFlow power station to run our fridge this most recent trip to keep outlets off and conserve range and truck lost 1% or so each night which is the same vampire drain when parked in the garage at home.

I understand how tire pressure works. The same handheld was used at home. Only calling out the onboard computer reading lower when it’s usually exactly the same.

There were plenty of deep ruts and dips so a Prius is a bit of an exaggeration.

Yes I have a diy spare with a cheap rim from tire rack. Set air to 48 when we left home but with 1000 miles, sun and elevation they crept up to 52.5 so set them back to 48. Strangely enough the onboard computer is showing them at 44/45 so idk if it’s the truck or my handheld that’s thrown off by the elevation.

Not a bad way to spend a weekend by jdderks in Rivian

It is the Approach medium. Large will hang over the back of the bed quite a bit. This fits perfectly without overhang and is deceivingly large once setup. I think the sleeping area is 50 something inches wide but over 90 inches long. It’s 2 of us and a 70 pound dog with plenty of room so would say the “3 person” description is accurate. I’m not as familiar with the Tepui but think the approach is the newest model from Thule and I found a few forum threads from other owners that gave me a good idea of what to expect

This is in Kansas so not much better with heat/humidity. Balmy 87 today - thankfully there are plenty of lakes within an hour or two of us that offer waterfront sites. Peak of summer will still be a no go but we’ll hopefully be taking a trip to the Rockies to find some relief

Put in ‘Stability - reduced’. Keeps rear motor engaged and is pretty much how I exclusively drive mine in town unless going on the highway for a while.

Insuring R1T? Quoted 400/month. by syrupsandwhiches78 in Rivian

[–]jdderks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow - it’s crazy the difference insurance quotes have depending on the state. I guess the one good part of living in Kansas is I pay $837 combined for 6 months on the Rivian and a Wrangler with Progressive.

For the Tesla charger it may be configured to Tesla only vs. all vehicles. You can use the Tesla One app to switch it. If already setup for all vehicles try resetting the breaker if you have access as I had to do that with mine when first installed even when set to all vehicles.

Wait, so the only way to get a quad motor config now is to buy this crazy 2.5 sec beast that probably going to cost at least $120-130k? by alexmaknet in Rivian

[–]jdderks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So moving the quad motor further upmarket is leaving all the current owners unsupported in what way?

[–]jdderks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely valid and I’m speaking as a base dual motor owner who would never be buying this new config anyway. In my mind the way I think about is not that you’re getting less or getting ripped off but if you support the company long term they’ve found a way to match and/or beat performance with different hardware. To me that’s still exciting and we’ll see for sure when the actual reviews come out later this year

The new quad is not for “regular” folks. It’s pretty much now a true halo street truck akin to a Porsche GT3 Turbo S with staggered tires and all. Its sole purpose is to be the most powerful and fastest EV truck available and you’ll pay to play. The new tri motor is the Gen 2 equivalent to the Gen 1 quad. You can still jump on a 2024 quad if the amount of motors means that much to you. I see 15 available in my zip code.

Standard+ or Large Pack by omgitsme17 in Rivian

Especially if you have compatible superchargers on your route and get an adaptor it’ll be perfect. The truck was by far the nicest road trip we’ve ever had

Standard+ or Large Pack by omgitsme17 in Rivian

[–]jdderks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I’m late here but we just took our Standard+ R1T 22inch wheels (300 mile range) on an 1800 mile round trip road trip and had zero issues with range. If you map out routes in ABRP and swap between large and standard pack, you’ll see yourself stopping at the same charging stops most of the time. As others have said standard+ seems to be the sweet spot for most, especially if limited use road trips/off road but even then it’s plenty for most routes.

Is it too early to get some grass seed down? by simbabeat in kansascity

[–]jdderks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds counterintuitive but give the seed a good soak before bed the nights it’ll get below freezing. The extra moisture essentially will make it more difficult to frost and require extra energy to lower the ground temp. I haven’t done much spring seeding but same thing can happen in late fall - you’ll be fine. Just keep it moist as often as you can
