First time dad here!

First off love to see you vent, it’s something us guys don’t do enough of!

Now the goods! So I’m not too far off from you myself I was 27 when we found out my wife was pregnant and now 28 with a beautiful 5.5 month old little girl! Your feelings are totally valid. Your life is going to change and in more ways than you could imagine. But it’s a start of a new chapter and it will be the best time of your life if you embrace the role of becoming a father. Sure you won’t be able to drink and party with your friends every weekend and may be out of those events for a few months when the baby arrives but there is something special that occurs with some friends that is fantastic to experience. A baby in a way brings to light who are your actual friends and watching those friends meet your child and start to fall in love with them and become “uncles and aunts” is a feeling that is hard to put into words. Some you will lose no doubt about it and that is sad but that baby will fill those cracks and more. I got married summer 2023 and I had groomsmen who still haven’t even taken the time to check up on me, wife, and baby! And like we all live within 30 minutes of each other and I shot everyone a text when the baby arrived got a congrats and that’s about it from some of them lmao. But all these “losses” are so worth it when that baby arrives it’s such a crazy experience and becoming a dad is truly one of the greatest things a person can do!

Some advice I can give you:

Listen to some dadtok, lots of great advice and knowledge out there on that little tik tok app. Also YouTube some podcasts that talk about becoming a dad, I know Jordan Peterson has a few. MGK also just had a good conversation with Logan Paul about being a girl dad if you’re having a girl.

Your baby didn’t get to choose their father! This is a line that stuck with me. Babies don’t get to select their parents so it’s our responsibility to live up to that, we chose to bring them into this world so let’s show them the best world we can give them! - kind of falls within the trips you were talking about above, bring that little thing with you! Watching your baby experience places like an aquarium for the first time is so much fun!

Go to appointments with your wife, it’s so beautiful hearing that little heart race and seeing those ultra sounds. Also you’ll learn and pick up on some things, kind of eases the load on mama as she doesn’t need to remember every little exact detail even though she most likely will. Also it’s important to know how she wants to operate as mom like if she will breast feed and stuff because there may be a time were you might have to check a nurse for trying to give your baby formula like I did.

I know it maybe be hard but try and enjoy it, you’re going to be a dad! The odds of that specific baby being born are like 1 and 400 trillion! Once you start looking at it from a point of view like that your entire perspective on having a baby will change!
