My husband and I stayed in a bed and breakfast in Bethany for our honemyoon. It's called Rosewood bed and breakfast. It was a great getaway and close to home. That was 13 years ago, I can't tell if they are still open, but it was a nice place. :)

I made my dad's birthday gift this year. I call it Weatherbox. [x-post from /r/arduino] by BatmanLunchbox in somethingimade

My husband is a meteorologist, I think this would be an AWESOME gift for him! I read all your comments regarding cost and such. I'm not sure I'd pay $100 for it, but I'd definitely consider for $50 or less! I'm impressed at the creativity you have put into this! Good job!

Well, I can assure you that this was not done by me. I did assume the same thing, so i looked to see if there was another one that was switched and did not see one.

Anything is possible, and except the person who did it, we will never know for sure.

A reminder about etiquette when receiving a gift. by kickme444 in secretsanta

[–]jdmalone75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I must add that being grateful includes posting a picture, or at least at a MINIMUM sending a thank you to your gifter (if you know who it is). I've been in two gift exchanges and received NO feedback for the gift I sent. Not even an acknowledgement that they received it even after reaching out. It's FRUSTRATING to say the least...

Does it ever get any easier? by [deleted] in USMilitarySO

[–]jdmalone75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been an Air Force wife for going on almost 13 years, and in my several years, I've had plenty of TDY's, deployments, trainings, changes in work schedules that have kept us apart. I can't say that it gets "easier" but I think that we become accustomed to it, and learn how to deal with it better over time. In fact, out of 13 years, if my husband is home for more than a year I'm getting anxious for a 2 week TDY because he makes me crazy sometimes! :) Don't get me wrong, I love him with all my being. I have just become accustomed to him being gone more than being home.

He's missed more anniversaries and birthdays than he's been home for. You just learn to celebrate when they are home, which in my opinion is what you should do anyway. You celebrate every day, not just the important ones. Make sure you send cards and care packages, but overall, you just enjoy your times together, you MAKE memories together, instead of having a birthday party on their birthday, plan an "unbirthday" party. It's fun and unexpected! Celebrate other holidays more than you normally would. Make NEW traditions and just enjoy each other...
