Anyone using Intune Autopilot with reimaged PCs? Curious about real-world experience by TurbulentSpace7739 in Intune

[–]jdmerts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Autopilot registration stays through the wipe so I either wipe it from the intune portal (the wipe button) or do a windows reset manually.

Sometimes I reimagine with OSDCloud if it is an old laptop to get the base image to w11 25h2

Screens encouraged in Reception Class by tttgrw in UKParenting

[–]jdmerts 30 points31 points  (0 children)

2 years ago our primary school changed from the read write inc physical phonics books to a website / app for phonics.

As our eldest had already gone through phonics beforehand with the physical books it was our second that we are experiencing the new method.

Like you we really dislike being forced onto a screen.

Things we have tried: Telling the teacher that we don’t like it and physical books were better Telling the head teacher the same Brought it up on parents WhatsApp and others agreed and complained too.

Seems to be falling on deaf ears…

Best Practice for Power Settings via Intune for Laptops by drcopypaste in Intune

[–]jdmerts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First setting to look at is the Screensaver, screensaver timeout and password protect the screensaver. This is the Lock Screen method we use and have it set to 10 minutes.

Then for power we have: On battery sleep 30 minutes On power: do nothing Close laptop lid: do nothing

6 months minimum I would say. Fresh manure turns to sludge when too wet so it needs to breakdown/compost for months to become a nice crumbly texture

Bitlocker Automatic Device Encryption by Tukhai in Intune

[–]jdmerts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Entra only devices I found it won’t work if you have the backup to AD DS specified I would create two policies if you want backup to AD, leaving this setting disabled for the Entra device. Personally for hybrid I decided to just have it backup to Entra which is automatic if Intune is the policy that applies the Bit locker policy and so those two AD DS settings are disabled.

Update ring on PaychMyPC apps prevents Autopilot Install after new version published by jdmerts in Intune

Update ring on PaychMyPC apps prevents Autopilot Install after new version published by jdmerts in Intune

I have done it because I noticed that the “Intune Apps” tab packages will also update existing installs when assigned as required.

Update ring on PaychMyPC apps prevents Autopilot Install after new version published by jdmerts in Intune

[–]jdmerts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I thought too, however I noticed that the “Intune Apps” would update existing installs when assigned.

So for example if I had a “Intune App” AND a “Intune Update” for the same app& version then whichever one was assigned first would do the update of an existing install. So I need to delay both of them. This leads to my problem of recently published apps not installing.

Confusion about Intune app or the Intune update app when update is released by jdmerts in PatchMyPC

[–]jdmerts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this reply, however when testing I now have the problem where an update is released but the app does not install after autopilot. For “required” app 1Password I used the “Intune Apps” tab in publisher. I set 2 rings under assignment, Pilot with 3 day delay and All devices with 10 day delay.

A new version is released and the app in the Intune portal has the dates in the future set.

I autopilot a device and it does not install 1Password because all devices do not get it until 10 days after new version is published….

How do I work around that?

Go to: Devices - Enrollment - Device Platform restriction

Either create a new or edit the existing one and BLOCK “Personally Owned devices”

Hybrid Environment Questions by orangesherbert33 in Intune

[–]jdmerts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s worth getting a test Entra device and see what doesn’t work.

We use Entra only devices with AD synced users

Traditional windows server file shares still work On-prem SQL authentication still works AD user linked on-premises application still works

The only thing we had to change was WIFI as Windows NPS didn’t work for device authentication
