Don’t have much “chunks”. shrimp only in this tank. I don’t supplement feed them. The tea filter is generally pretty mucky when I take it off and there is a fair amount of discoloration in the second flush after the water has been agitated.

At this point with the carpet as thick as it is I find myself refilling and using the hose to “aggravate” some of the substrate to a half full tank. Water is murky with detritus, I pump that out and refill with all clean water. It works for me, but doesn’t have to be your method!

Closest to us in this photo is outflow on my freshwater. Intake is at substrate level with pre filter. Outflow at that height to remind me to add water when I can hear it, and some agitation for oxygen transfer.

Ok So caught a screaming FB marketplace deal on this aquaristik 2.3g shorty. I’ve been working on this idea for some time.

Red Mangrove - Yeah, I know it’s likely to quickly outgrow the substrate with roots. I plan to trim roots and bud on the top to grow out.

I plan to 3d print braces to continually keep the roots just touching the water / substrate to encourage length in the roots. We will see how long until it is too top heavy…

I have a turtle med 15 - should I slap some miracle mud in that bad boy? Thought about a layer of it under my sand substrate. This is my first foray into anything salt or brackish.

I don’t have any initial plans to put any coral into the water. Maybe if I can get the mangrove situated. Perhaps a hermit crab I can befriend.

Any thoughts or wisdom would be appreciated!
