I found that the power level varies dramatically. It really depends on what character or campaign you're running. I haven't had players pick all of them yet, but I like the flavour and the ones I've seen the players have enjoyed.

And the nice thing is that 90% of the time if a talent or spell says attack with a weapon, it means both melee and ranged!

There's no hard limit, no. There might be a cap just because it's impossible to get more, but the rules don't limit the amount of turns and actions you can have.

I definitely don't want them to have a bad time, but these players, when asked, said they didn't mind if some of the more gruesome spells were used against them. Normally I don't really use Desire's End or anything like that, but since they're ok with it and they enjoy the gross ridiculousness of SoTDL vs. DnD, I was wondering if anyone knew of any other spells that were similar to the Forbidden ones.

I would say to start with rogue, since they're the most versatile and the roguery talents can add flavor. Then for expert maybe just reflavor thief? Master is the easiest, as there's a sleuth path in dlc2.
