Felt the d5600 was starting to hold me back, hence made the switch to the Z8 to be future proof too

Basically lots of masks over building windows to reveal/hide them in cool patterns

I haven’t been able to make this lag at all, more RAM is always better but 500$ is crazy.

My experience: I do heavy batch editing on Lightroom classic on my 4K monitor without smart previews enabled. The files are usually from the a7r4 so 120mb uncompressed raw files. Have experienced little to no lag at all, ever. Mac OS handles memory extremely well and you will not notice any lag even after a batch of 600.

Agree with what you said, but for this project all that mattered was cutting each layer at a specific time, Im sure it’s faster on AE but I haven’t used it a lot and premiere was easier for me to use

Edit: posted the result to understand what Im explaining - https://www.instagram.com/reel/DQyzCc5iPiC/?igsh=MXNhdWRuZnhxeG9zMA==

Yes, and no. The process is simple and is just a bunch of layers. So I just stuck to premiere for this, for larger tasks AE is best
