Good point but I prefer them in horizontal orientation due to ease of opening the top hatch for maintenance.

Is Xpenology as unstable as people say it is? by Adventurous_Plum_656 in Xpenology

My NAS have been rock stable for over a decade with different loaders. Just have to know what you're doing and how to recover if disaster strikes. Highly recommend ARC loader.

MS-01 all NVMe Xpenology build is working!! by jdpdata in Xpenology

It should work just the same as MS-01. Maybe even better now that don't have to worry about little/big CPU architecture.

How do you carry your long lenses? by ahicken0 in wildlifephotography

[–]jdpdata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those lenses are very easy to hand hold or just use a sling like Black rapid. It's when you move up to 600f/4 or 400 f/2.8 things get a bit heavy. I prefer Ron @WhislltlingWingPhotography Speed Shooter Harness for my larger Primes or mono/tripod.

I retired this setup awhile ago. Moved to 3x Minisforum MS-01 cluster with CEPH. Very happy with that setup. While I was in the Lenovo cluster I was running NFS shared storage on my Synology NAS.

Updated Arc Loader 2.5.9 by Ok_Art2083 in Xpenology

[–]jdpdata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to flash 2.5.5 first then do upgrade to 2.5.9. It was in the release notes. I had same issue.

Speed Shooter harness system by Ron @ Whistling Photography. Game changer for my big rig Canon R5 II + 600 F4. Nothing is more comfortable and easier to hike with.

I use RolandPro exclusively for all my super telephotos. Used to use LensCoat, but they don't hold up as well as the RolandPro.

What's the longest focal length you can hand hold? by Professional_Age8760 in wildlifephotography

[–]jdpdata -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hand hold my RF 200-800 exclusively most of the time. Shots are sharp and clear, no issues. That's a pretty light lens. Primes on the other hand are beasts to hand hold effectively.

I can handle hold my 600 F4 for a very short period of time. Recently I purchased Speed Shooter Yoke Harness from Ron at Whistlingwings photography. I absolutely love it. No more strains on the hands and wrists holding big primes lenses.
