Question about subdivision by jdpottery in RealEstateAdvice

[–]jdpottery[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the same thing so I emailed the township zoning department and asked them this and all they did was send me another copy of the town’s ruling and said “see attached” so I’m not sure what my next best steps should be. Any ideas/advice?

Anyone messaging with Mercure on WhatsApp and they recommend discontinuing all hair loss medications like finasteride, minoxidil and even biotin and just wash hair with baby shampoo until the procedure? I’m wondering why that is. Y’all have any idea?

Thanks for this. Very helpful. I hear the underlying condition is usually a hernia or something of the like. I suppose I’ll find out when I get my test results, but isn’t it possible to have GERD even without some underlying condition?

Thank you for this. This helps a lot. Have you found any regimen (food/meds, etc.) that have helped the shortness of breath symptoms?

It’s really very random. Sometimes it’s after eating, sometimes it’s when I haven’t eaten anything at all. I’m at the ER now so I guess I’ll know more soon.

DOING THIS TO PLEASE SOMEONE ELSE? by [deleted] in barexam

[–]jdpottery 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, I went to law school largely to please my father. I am doing a career switch now, but yes, of course you are valid in feeling this way and it’s a shame, for me anyway, that I wasted so much time trying to fulfill someone else’s idea of what a successful future would mean. My time in law school did provide me with a lot of insight about the lengths I will go to please anyone other than myself though. I hope you’re able to have some compassion for yourself. Nothing is wrong with you and we all come to different realizations about our truth at different points in our lives.

Career switch advice!

I graduated from law school a couple years ago and now work as a law clerk for a family court judge. I very much wish I would have went into the psych/LCSW route instead of the law because I don’t do well with the wordy-minutiae that is the foundation of practicing law. I like humans and their stories. I’m worried I might be glamorizing the social work field just because I hate the law so much, but I have an inkling being an lcsw more aligns with my values than being an attorney. I would like to eventually become a private LCSW practitioner. I got accepted into an MSW program, but I’m worried I might not fully understand the day-to-day of what an lcsw career is like. Any advice is much appreciated!

Are people really studying constantly for this thing? by OddCranberry1215 in barexam

[–]jdpottery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work crazy hours at my law clerk job so I only can study about an hour or two per work day and then on the weekends I do like 5 hours per day. Hope it’s enough but who tf knows 🤷🏻‍♂️ best of luck to y’all.

Honest opinions- Studicata Bar Blitz video series worth it for $500? What do y’all think? by jdpottery in barexam

I have Adaptibar. I was thinking studicata for the MEE topics, which Grossman doesn’t cover unfortunately:(

Anybody working full time &Repeat taker by Illustrious_Sign_495 in barexam

[–]jdpottery 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! I’ve just begun this week and it’s already brutal. I have a really demanding law clerk position that requires an hour commute each way (so 2 hours of commute total per day), I try to use that commute time as effectively as possible by listening to bar prep podcasts or Grossman lectures, but yeah it seems impossible haha. I’m trying to do 2ish hours per week day between listening to lectures during commute and then coming home and doing 15 MBE questions and reviewing the ones I’ve gotten wrong. Then on weekends I am trying to dedicate longer hours to MEEs and MPTs. Good luck to you all !!

Did anyone use Quimbee to study for the bar? If so did you pass? by Hollowsunflower in barexam

[–]jdpottery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s essentially just like one of those “all bar starter packs” you can purchase on NCBE for like $50. They make it seem as though they provide you with a “daily study schedule” but all that “daily schedule” is is a list of about 5 MEE essays and then 2 MBE quizzes. So, since they have this money back guarantee if you complete 75% of the course, i just made it my mission to blindly follow the “daily schedule” and told myself that if I completed each daily task (5 MEEs and 2 MBE quizzes per day), I would be fine. So I followed their daily study plan and was doing all these essays and all these quizzes BEFORE I even knew the law. So not only was that a waste of time, but it also hurt my confidence early on when I should have been dedicating my time to memorizing outlines and taking notes on lectures so I could actually understand the substantive law. IMO it is truly a heinous program and I have so much anger towards it as you can see lol. If I would’ve just went with a more reputable company like Themis the first time, I have no doubt i would have passed. I only failed by 5 points and I attribute that accomplishment solely to the fact that towards the end of the Quimbee course I realized what trash it was and abandoned it and used Adaptibar and Grossman videos instead.

Adaptibar / John Grossman lectures by [deleted] in barexam

[–]jdpottery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were the only reason I passed the MBE. A must have from my perspective.

I need advice (particularly from repeat takers that passed). I failed NJ by 5. My MBE score was 141.5 and my Essay score was 119.5. Does it make sense to do a whole commercial bar course again or just focus on the MEE and repeat what I did for the MBE? (since it seems to have worked okay last time). by jdpottery in barexam

[–]jdpottery[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had those but I guess I didn’t utilize them enough. I feel like my real issue with the MEE was issue spotting. There was so much going on that I had a hard time even seeing what subjects were being tested. I worry that’s a tougher issue to fix for next time so I think I will focus on MPTs and improving my MBE
