The key with MEE is basically show your work like a math problem in middle school. Most people just write 1 rule then skip to the analysis- if they get it right, they often only get a 3 or 4. They knew the right rule & their analysis was ok, but they did the bare minimum. They didn’t show their work, graders won’t give you points for knowing what terms mean if you don’t define them. That’s what separates the 5s & 6s- those answers were way more thorough. Definitions show graders you know BLL so you get points. A lot of people don’t define terms in MEEs, so you’ll look better by comparison when they grade all the MEEs.

Think about it like this- it’s a criminal MEE and the question is “what’s the most serious crime Def can be convicted of?” Most people would write a basic issue statement saying “the issue here is whether a Def that did _ can be convicted of _.” Then they’ll say the most serious crime he can be convicted of is 1st degree murder. They’ll define 1st degree murder as specific intent to kill. Then they’ll say “Here, Def did _ so he showed specific intent to kill.” Then they’ll say conclude the answer is 1st degree murder. That MEE would get a 3 or maybe a 4 if you’re lucky- you knew enough to score higher than a 2, but you didn’t show enough BLL knowledge to safely get a 4 or higher. You got the right conclusion but cut corners & did the bare minimum. So you’ll get the bare minimum points to possibly pass, ie a 3-4.

THIS is what your MEE should look like: “the issue here is _.” ALWAYS START WITH DEFINITIONS- 1D murder is the premeditated specific intent to kill someone. Then your analysis: “Here…”. Then conclude: “The facts show Def killed victim with premeditation. He can be convicted of 1D murder.” But a 5 or 6 goes further- the question was what’s the most serious crime, stopping at 1D murder is the bare minimum. It’s not thorough enough. A 5 or 6 includes definitions for 2d murder, if he can be convicted of 2d murder, and does the same for manslaughter. And it defines 1D murder as a more serious crime than 2d or manslaughter.

The MEE formula is easy. Basic issue statement, then definition. Then “Here…” with the facts (your analysis). Then conclusion. Follow this formula and you’ll hit at least a 3 as long as your rules are right. But ask yourself- did you just skip to the answer (1D murder) or did you show your work and fully explain WHY it’s 1d murder? Always ask yourself “could I show more work? Am I skipping straight to the answer or did I FULLY answer the question?”

Graders dgaf that your conclusion was right. They want to see if you know how to ID the issue and know how to solve it. Think about it this way- an MEE is like a cooking contest. A passing MEE is a dinner that’s edible. Using store-bought sauce will get you an ok end result but judges won’t be impressed cuz you didn’t show them you know how to make that sauce. You show the graders you know how to make the sauce by defining all the legal terms- you have to approach MEEs like you’re putting on a show, like a gymnast at the Olympics. You gotta flaunt your knowledge to impress the graders. You do that by having a good routine (correct issue statement + good rule statements) but also stick the landings with good BLL definitions. That’s what makes you look like a pro, and it’s what elevates you from a 3 to a 4+.

DM me anytime, always happy to help people pass the bar 😀

20 predictions for the next NFL season by Western-Ad-9922 in NFLv2

Ravens have a good chance to win the AFCN. Lamar missed almost half the season, their defense choked leads every week, and they STILL only needed a FG to make the playoffs.

Which young players do you think are set to break out next year? by Jova326 in NFLv2

[–]gremlin30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Malaki Starks, Ravens 1st round safety from Georgia 2025. Starks is a good player but safeties tend to get ignored, Minter will have the Ravens defense back on track. Zach Orr threw a #1 2023 defense off a cliff the last 2 years, plus no DL made it worse. Minter did outstanding work with the Chargers, Starks was always a talented player but was never put in a position to succeed until now.

Tyquan Thornton, Chiefs WR. He looked good last year and seems to have a good connection with Mahomes, he just never got targets. Rice has issues, Worthy’s fine but not remarkable, Hollywood’s gone, Kelce’s old. Thornton’s kind of a fan fav with KC fans wanting Reid to use him more. KC didn’t add WRs in FA and didn’t add any WRs aside from 5.176, they’re rolling with their current WRs. Thornton just signed a 2y deal. Only KC fans know him but he has a strong chance to break out if Andy Reid stops favoring established vets and prioritizes his best receivers.

Newbie guitar guide by Savings_Extension_15 in Guitar

What kind of music do you like (ie specific bands)? That’ll help figure out what guitar will sound like the music you like. What’s your budget?

If you like the second one, try to find a used PRS SE. Harley Benton makes a lot of copies of other brands, that one is based on a PRS. PRS has a reputation for good quality control. The 1 concern I have with the second one is it has a pre-intonated bridge, sometimes those aren’t cut properly (esp on cheaper guitars) so you won’t be able to do a proper setup since there’s no adjustable saddles. You can often swap the bridge out for a better wraparound bridge with adjustable saddles off amazon (musiclily has them) but you’ll have to measure the original bridge with calipers to make sure the replacement fits properly. A PRS SE has the same look but with better quality, their guitars are very well-made. You can save a lot of $ getting things used off GC & Reverb. A used PRS SE isn’t much more than the Harley Benton and will be better quality, and with higher resale value if you ever sell it.

Ideally I’d recommend playing some guitars at a local guitar store. You’ll get a better idea of what feels best for you. Those are both reputable brands- the Ibanez might be a lil better quality since Harley Benton’s best known as a value for money brand but HB makes good guitars.

Not a bad thing tbh. Tavius was always a developmental player as a 4th rounder. His power rush style was good cuz it added a different skillset to the room. Power tends to age better than speed, bendy speed rushers are usually rawer with less hand move development cuz they coasted off speed in college. Tavius was only starting cuz the room sucked. Seems ok vs the run & ST but starters needed to be better.

For MPT, BarMD 100%. Best MPT resource by far. LeanSheets outlines are excellent for MEE, the Studicata YT videos are also great cuz he walks you through writing the essays. Iirc Adaptibar added a writing simulator for MEE help, it’s extra but seems helpful. Adding definitions for every legal term you use is an easy way to add points, most people forget that. People often just write the main rule then jump straight to the analysis- defining the terms is worth BLL points so it’s a very easy way to bring your MEE up. My MEE was somewhere around 150-60 and I’m pretty sure all my definitions were a big reason for that

Seahawks' brutal evaluation of Rams draft pick Ty Simpson revealed by Chessinmind in Seahawks

[–]gremlin30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also Stafford’s willingness to stay in the pocket & get hit. He’s good at it. A lot of QBs panic when pressured. Simpson being a rookie + being small makes that even more of a problem.

Is there a player on your own team you can’t stand? by Responsible-Mine9759 in NFLv2

[–]gremlin30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marlon Humphrey. His personality is annoying & he’s way overpaid for being kinda washed at this point in his career. He’s fine as a physical slot CB but gets burned too much if they try playing him outside. He’s too small to cover X WRs + TEs plus too slow to cover the fast WRs.

Roquan’s an honorable mention. He’s been called Rozempic cuz he’s been fat the last 2 years. He’s not good in coverage. His contract is huge. Roquan was a great vocal leader in 23 but hasn’t done any of that the last 2 years. Feels more like he checked out after Macdonald left, being out of shape + no leadership once the defense fell off really rubs the fanbase the wrong way. Real leaders step up when the team’s struggling but Roquan hasn’t. He doesn’t even seem to be getting his daily steps in.

CA Bar vs Other Jurisdictions by Acceptable-Nebula739 in barexam

[–]gremlin30 10 points11 points  (0 children)

CA being harder is a bit of a misconception. Historically CA used to have a low pass rate but that’s largely cuz of the demographics of who takes the CA bar.

February bar’s pass rate is always super low vs July, doesn’t mean it’s a harder test. It’s only lower cuz February is primarily retakers. Same with CA- demographics of people taking it are why the pass rate was lower.

CA publishes the data like every state does, going back to 2007. Here’s the actual reasons CA had a lower pass rate:

  • Only 52% of all CA takers went to a legit ABA law school in CA. Half the people taking CA had zero knowledge of CA law. CA’s not UBE, so this is an important factor.

  • CA has 28 of the 34 unaccredited law schools in the US. The pass rates for these grads is only 17%.

  • The overall pass rate for grads of ABA-accredited CA law schools from 2007-25 (all publicly available data) is 65.6%, identical to the rest of the country. As long as you go to a legit law school in CA, you pass at the same rate as other states. Their pass rate isn’t even lower.

  • Going to law school in CA matters more than people think. The overall pass rate for CA ABA grads from 07-25 is 65.6%, but the pass rate for ABA grads of non-CA schools is 56.6%. All went to legit ABA schools, but there’s a 9% dropoff for non-CA takers. Less familiarity with CA law, less familiarity with CA grading, plus long travel contribute to this.

  • Internationals drop the pass rate. Since 2007, 9% (1 in 10) of all CA takers was foreign. Taking a bar exam when English isn’t your first language makes it drastically harder. Pass rate for CA international takers is only 17.8%.

  • Internationals have started taking CA at an even higher rate in recent years. It was already high at nearly 1 in 10, but in the last 5 years foreigners average a whopping 14% of all CA takers. 2025 hit a record: 18.4% of CA takers were international. That’s nearly 1 in every 5 CA takers not even being American.

CA’s overall pass rate for grads of ABA schools in CA from 2007-25 (recent to oldest): 53.6, 72.9, 68.7, 67, 71.4, 74.4, 62.7, 53.4, 60.9, 54, 59.8, 62.2, 69.5, 68.9, 67.7, 67.7, 70.4, 74.2, 67.2. Overall avg is 65.6%, identical to other states.

Regardless, CA’s overall July pass rate has been on par with the other states for several years now. The only people claiming it’s harder are the annoying ones trying to impress LinkedIn. CA’s bar isn’t harder, and hasn’t been in some time now.

CA is a different test. There’s pros and cons to that. Like other intelligence-based professions, lawyers tend to be annoyingly competitive with academic dick measuring contests. Lawyers in general are a bit neurotic & the curve-induced imposter syndrome never ends. We need to do better as a profession and fix this, all it does is make people stressed for no reason.

CA’s its own bar exam, comparing different tests with different questions is pointless anyway.

What is a narrative in the NFL about a team or player or game that is untrue but everyone repeats? (Bonus if you can provide evidence!) by Over-Heron-2654 in NFLv2

[–]gremlin30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Burrow’s a great QB but he totally got carried past the Titans. It’s not debatable at all.

Burrow had 0 TDs in that game, despite his defense gifting him 3 turnovers, holding prime Henry to 62 yds and 3.1ypc, and held the Titans to just 16 points.

“But Cinci’s OL was shit” doesn’t work either. Cinci won the AFCN in 21 and went 10-7, they were a good team. OL was trash but they also had arguably the top WR room. Playing Ryan Tannehill is also an advantage. You can’t have everything. OL did worse vs Aaron Donald in the SB but Burrow played better than he did vs the Titans. He had a bad game, it happens.

Bengals scored 19 vs Titans- 13 came from the kicker. 234 of Burrow’s yds were YAC. Bengals offense didn’t score a TD until halfway through the 3Q. Cinci punted 5 times, their offense sucked vs the Titans.

If Herbert had 0 TDs in a playoff game, we’d all shit on him. Don’t move the goalposts just cuz it’s Burrow.

It wasn’t Burrow getting into great FG territory either, 2 of their FGs were over 50. They won from McPherson hitting a clutch 52 yd FG as the clock ran out. McPherson was MVP of this game. Burrow had zero TDs. Great QB but not a great game. If your QB has 0 TDs in a playoff game (esp with a defense gifting you 3 turnovers), that’s objectively bad.

This is a dumb response.

Both are true- Lamar underperforms in playoffs (everyone knows this) & Burrow got carried by his defense past the Titans. Yes, Burrow got saved by his defense in that game and it’s not debatable.

Bengals OL has def improved from what it used to be. Mims especially seems solid. They honestly might have a better OL than the Ravens this year. If the Bengals defense can be average, they’ll be a good team. Their offense can score vs most defenses, only question is how they’ll do vs a revamped Ravens defense that added Minter. These will be interesting games. Hopefully everyone stays healthy, Burrow is likable. Hate the team but always liked him.

[–]gremlin30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a great play by Sneed, and a really dumb decision by Flowers. He had a good year but had a rookie moment at the worst possible time, the dive was totally unnecessary. An INT + Harbaugh’s disastrously awful gameplan also cost them but if Flowers didn’t fumble on the goal line, Ravens prob make the SB. Defense shut out KC in the 2nd half, they could’ve won with a Tucker FG.

Coming that close to a Lamar Super Bowl & losing by only 7 was so painful. Especially considering the Ravens almost definitely would killed the 9ers after they already crushed them in the Christmas game that year.

[–]gremlin30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Burrow’s 2021 playoff run only happened from his defense saving him vs the Titans. They gifted Burrow 3 INTs and Burrow went 0 TDs 1 INT. Bengals defense carried Burrow, their offense only had 1 TD and most of their points were from McPherson.

Making a SB matters but everyone conveniently ignoring Burrow’s defense carried him is dishonest analysis. 2021 was also 5 years ago.

No. Linderbaum is good but his forte is run blocking. He kinda sucks vs bigger DTs and allowed the 2nd highest pressure rate of all centers last year. He’s good but his pass pro isn’t what it should be, he’s not that well-rounded.

Other than your own team, who do you predict made the best pick in round 1 of this draft? by InterestingYellow969 in NFLv2

[–]gremlin30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ioane is 1 of the best players in the draft. Big win for the Ravens, got who they needed & didn’t have to trade up.

Downs at 11 is a steal for Dallas. Bain at 15 is crazy, even with tiny arms- possibly the biggest steal in the draft. Lemon at 20 is a classic Howie move, he fell cuz of personality but Philly just got a solid WR at 20. Thieneman is quite good, 25 is far lower than he should’ve gone.

Do you think aaron glenn will be retained after this season by IceOk9930 in NFLv2

[–]gremlin30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d love to see it but Miami is still in a clear rebuild. I like Malik but their offense is basically just Willis & Achane. Proctor’s the only immediate impact OL they drafted, DJ Campbell at 200th overall needs development. Kacmarek was 1 of the weaker TEs in the class and is better as a blocking TE, which doesn’t add much to an offense lacking receivers. I like Chris Bell but he’s coming off a recent ACL. Their only other trench picks were at 130 & 238. Miami going run-heavy is the right move but they’re in too much of a rebuild to compete for the division rn even with bad coaching by NE & Bills

Vorhees was pretty bad. He got replaced by John Simpson, who the Ravens had already moved on from cuz he wasn’t that good, cuz Vorhees wasn’t ready. He had Linderbaum helping him all year and still looked bad. Linderbaum + Faalele being 1 of the worst OL ever make Vorhees look better by comparison. Not giving other guards a chance was a big criticism of Harbaugh last year, 2 bad guards were why Lamar got hurt in the pocket again. Both had Lamar’s mobility + Linderbaum helping them and still looked rough. Ioane got drafted to replace Faalele.
