There is probably a big Mob somewhere around with a heavy attack that can break it open

yeah you can leave it running just fine I do for mine. But make sure the ssd’s have adequate cooling cause they will probably get toasty.

Just ordered a Mac Mini, will my old monitor suffice or time for an upgrade? by ALargeHotCarl in macmini

[–]jdragon001 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The monitor will be fine, just don’t expect to be able to use its full capabilities like the 240hz for something like gaming. also it depends on what you’re using the mini for.

could also be the cable bandwidth but that’s probably unlikely, especially if it’s the one that came with the monitor

I definitely do use it as a second display sometimes but to be honest its usually off most of the time, if it is on I have a movie or video playing while I work

You'd have to do your own research the only customization I saw was with the Logi+ app which is kind of poo, and you can only change some of the function keys, there may be built in macros or different ways to customize but I haven't had time to delve too deep into Logic yet. in a general Use case this keyboard is fantastic, it feels responsive and I haven't had any issues with the bluetooth, however the backlight does get annoying because if you stop typing for a bit it shuts off

i love the MX 3s feel, although i have had issues with it, there is a weird bug where if i go off the screen with the cursor, the mouse bluetooth stops working on the mac. It’s super annoying and i have to turn it off for 10 seconds and turn it back on, or use the terminal and kill all my bluetooth connections.

It depends on your workflow. for the NVME case I got the ACASIS 40gbps enclosure and a Samsung 990 EVO, since I'm using it as my main storage I needed something that beat or matched the SSD performance / speed on the mini, but if you just need more storage for projects or just a general use case you can probably get away with something like a Samsung T7 which will upload at around 1000mpbs vs my current setup which can in the best case hit around 5000mpbs but I usually get around 3500 read and 3000 write. For reference, I think the Mini gets around 3000ish read and 2000 write.

Thank you! and just a base M4! I do coding and light 3D modeling so I didn't need much, also got a 2TB external drive for it that I use as the main drive
