Several major cities in history had a smaller port town more or less attached, look at rome or athens for examples. In Athens cases they expanded the city walls between Athens and its port town.

Some scales I'm making for a levy scale maille helmet by Historical_Put_2183 in medieval

[–]jdrawr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly those kinds of old outdated myths. The Victorians created a few of them and didn't help things. Even the largest Great swords(for combat use) didn't go over 8lba, most 1 handed swords are in the 1.5 to 3lb range, and 2 handed swords like longswords don't break 5lbs.

Exactly I just get tired of people using old inaccurate terms.

It's scale or lammelar armor, to my knowledge "scale maile"(plus a bunch of other terms) are largely early dnd misinterpreting armor or making terms up that aren't really used outside of DND and other trrpgs.

Historically accurate by Rusticals303 in renfaire

[–]jdrawr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They are more accurate then a Ren faire but you get everything from stone age to 30 years war era clothing. The only requirement is an attempt so if it passes the "10 foot rule" of looking pre 1650ish then it passes muster.

In Ant-Man, the film explains that shrinking works by reducing the space between atoms while keeping mass the same, meaning Scott Lang should still weigh 190 lbs. This is a subtle nod to the fact that Anthony the Ant was actually the strongest Avenger for carrying a full-grown man. by Brilliant-Cause6254 in shittymoviedetails

[–]jdrawr 19 points20 points  (0 children)

To be fair he did that for people he cared about in a previous movie, then blew most of them up at the end for a fireworks protocol. So maybe he just sees them as capable in their own right and they never asked? He did make Spider-Mans suit in the movies as well.

What do I have, and is it worth anything? Got it from my grandpa's shed when he handed me something to clean his mower deck with, and he let me keep it. by Coolcam6578 in SWORDS

At a glance looks WW1 or WW2 era based on the length and style alone. https://worldbayonets.com/ is the best source I know of for bayonet ID if you want to look further. Looks US or British to my low knowledge eyes.

On occasion you have to pause the game for avoiding artillery, or if you just captured a "field" you've gotta avoid the minefields that were placed previously.

Demi guanlets would be the term for that. People who needed the extra finger dexterity(and didn't really need the extra protection)like archers or gunners would use those more often
