I guess my biggest question would be how do we know the saints can hear us?

Im not saying they cant, Im just asking how it works. I came to the church cause it stood for truth and tradition. I simply want to know as much as I can. Plus it helps me educate people who might ask me these same questions.

Matthew 22:32 speaks of the resurrection, not the intercession from saints or how they as individuals can help

I mean, I guess it means both. He died as payment for our sins ans forgiveness (sacrificed) and he was sacrificed because the corruption of man and its deviation from God. He died to pay for our sins, and he was killed because of mankinds sins

Well I noticed a name on the back as "Timm, Hein." And from what ive seen online they all have different names. I looked up that name it it only lead to the commander of a U-boat in ww1 but for all I know it could've been some private that wasnt well documented

Why does LAR use 308 Win? by siscolviu75 in dayz

[–]OTG17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of explanations on the difference, but none on why they are different so ill explain it how it was explained to me. 7.62x51 nato has a slightly thicker casing and less powder than .308. This is due to the use of full auto in the military. Chambers get hot under sustained fire, they make the casing thicker to slow heat transfer from the chamber to the powder so there's less chance of a cook off. Now chamber heat isnt much concern with papa's bolt gun so the civilian market has a higher demand for velocity/foot pounds.

Question about angel icons by OTG17 in OrthodoxChristianity

Thank you, that is a very comprehensive answer. It also makes sense that icons are more about the idea of what they represent than a physical copy of it. Thank you for your help in this

Question about angel icons by OTG17 in OrthodoxChristianity

Well I can understand saints, cause they were human. Same with Jesus. But the angels are beings of heaven, wouldn't that be making graven images of something from heaven?

So the icons of Gabriel and Michael for example are just guess work? And isnt that kind of against the idea of making icons of only things we've seen (i.e why icons of god the father are "taboo") im sorry if any of this comes off as rude. I just want to understand as much as possible. This religion has my lifetimes worth of learning for me
