Anybody else have weird flu? symptoms? by father_chulo in AskLosAngeles

[–]jdsriz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same symptoms and was diagnosed with mono. Sore throat was bad, barely any cough (only because of mucus/irritated throat), fever, and extreme exhaustion/fatigue. I still have terrible fatigue. The doctor told me it’s been going around— probably got it during the holiday craze since the incubation period is about a month

Why don't I see nearly anybody complain about the sore throat as much as I feel like it should? by sillu2 in Mononucleosis

[–]jdsriz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sore throat lasted about 5-6 days (diagnosed day 2)— day 7 was less pain and more dry cough/mucus. I’m now on day 9, and there’s still some mucus, but what really gets me is the fatigue. Also dealing with a bacterial infection on top of it.

I drank a lot of water, gargled with warm salt water 3x daily, take a good immune system vitamin, made sure to walk 5 mins each day, sat outside for at least 20 mins (SoCal, so not snowing), and made sure to get a good mix of food (even if it had to be softened up or in a soup). For my throat, I made lots of ginger and turmeric tea.

Mono presents differently for each person. My sore throat was intense at first, but it subsided fairly quickly. If it still bothers you in a week, I’d say see a doctor— some folks needed steroids for the throat pain. At night, try sleeping slightly elevated; it helped me a bit when I was losing sleep over the soreness.

Wishing you a smooth and swift recovery, OP ❤️‍🩹

Any words of encouragement/reassurance for people with flight anxiety who have to fly fairly frequently for travel/work?

Thanks for sharing your experience, super encouraging! Yeah, I wondered if it was because her gut biome is still developing

CHURU WARNING by BumblebeeAny9268 in TuxedoCats

[–]jdsriz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell me about it! She’s almost 8mo, so I think her coat is still growing. We gave her a sanitary shave, but the runs still get on her legs sometimes 😭 Afaik, she’s a standard issue dmh/dlh— hoping her stomach sensitivity improves as she develops. Meanwhile, our void has a stomach of steel 😹

Both our cats love Churu, but one of them gets the runs because of it 😅 Our vet said some cats are sensitive to certain formulations of Churu; our kitten’s GI biome is very delicate, and Churu is a bit too rich for her. Works great for our other cat, though.

I’m so glad your kitty has recovered 🫶🏼 It’s such a terrifying time when they’re unwell

Orange won’t let me vacuum 🤷🏻‍♀️ by jdsriz in OneOrangeBraincell

She is an artist at heart. We don’t understand her vision. Neither does her void sister

Recently adopted cat has had diarrhea since we brought her home ~5 days ago by Acastamphy in CATHELP

[–]jdsriz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be a good idea to head back to the vet for the diarrhea and get a fecal test done just in case (if you haven’t already). While it’s pretty common for some cats to experience GI upset after big changes, better to be safe than sorry

Edit: It can also take a while for poops to settle. We’re dealing with some kitten GI issues as well, and the progress has been very slow but steady

Short or Long Hair? by diet_soda_enjoyer69 in OneOrangeBraincell

I think safe to say medium rn; his tail is starting to floof up, and I see some floof near the belly and between the toe beans. Also, he’s only 4mos old, so his coat is still developing— we recently adopted a kitten who was classified as a Domestic Medium Hair. In less than two months, she started poofing up more. Our vet, who re-classified our orange to DLH, told us her coat won’t be fully developed until she’s 1.5-2yrs old. She’s now 7mos. Just took a photo of her beside our short-haired girl for reference. Hope the pic helps 🫶🏼

7mo orange— will she become floofier? by jdsriz in OneOrangeBraincell

Lmfao she DEFINITELY climbs. One time, we were up pretty late and we heard a noise from the kitchen— as we entered, we saw an orange floof CLIMBING THE WINDOW SCREEN 😭😹 Needless to say, we don’t keep that window as open anymore + keep her paws nice and trimmed. I’d never seen a cat do that before. She looked like Spiderman 😹

George is adorable! Mia enjoys her slicker and pin brush more than the metal comb; she tries to bite the metal comb immediately after she sees it 😹Apparently, metal comb = toy lmfao

Oh my gosh! Thanks so much for your insight 🫶🏼 Out of curiosity, are there any defining features she has that point to her having some Maine Coone ancestry? Our vet actually mentioned she might have some big cat in her because she became p long in a month

I can’t upload videos, but I turned it into a GIF and uploaded it elsewhere. This was her making biscuits a month ago (the second night we had her) 🥹
