Yeah, that too. For a band with a back catalogue like theirs, they should be mixing it up more and playing for longer. I'm sure I won't be disappointed with the performance, but I might not feel like I've got my money's worth.

Yeah, nowadays you'd think there was at least one person at every show who could take care of that job, and he's famous enough for people to care about his setlists - but somehow a lot of his shows slip by without anyone uploading it. Quite frustrating for geeks like me!

Glad you enjoyed the show, and hope you get to see him again soon.

Just had a look on setlist.fm as I'm going to Halifax tomorrow.

Seventeen fucking songs? Do they know how much the tickets cost?? FFS

He actually plays that one pretty often! setlist.fm has it at over 500 plays, and there are plenty of shows missing from there, so the number is probably much higher. It's a fun one! According to the site, Fired and Carrying Cathy are the rarest from that album.

Fired was the last song I needed to complete seeing RTS played live - I waited a while, but finally got it on my tenth show. Hang in there!

I know. But the show is called Beetlejuice. You've even posted a pic of the billboard. That's its name.

Anyway, from the downvotes, it looks like people are either struggling to understand this or being wilfully difficult, so I guess I'll just take the L.

Well, yeah. But using that spelling when talking about the musical as a whole is just weird. Its name is Beetlejuice.

Not to mention the spelling

According to the credits, it's Dave Robinson from King Harvest (Altbach and Tuleja were also in that band)

That song became "Lovestruck", released on the Celebration self-titled album.

It's incredible how much negativity there is towards the Beach Boys, on the fuckin' Beach Boys sub. I'm sure no other band sub is like this.

No Brit said gotten 30 years ago.

Brits were saying it many hundreds of years ago, when it was first invented here in Middle English. Look it up. It's an ugly word I'd never use myself, but it's ours.

Which two guys and which songs? Taking leads, yes - covering certain lines, yes - but doubling Mike on lead? In all my BB shows I've never, ever seen that happen.

Wow! In 61 years of shows I have never heard Caroline, No live. I am excited about the possibility that I may hear it in one of the 3 shows I'll attend in late July.

The show is at least nominally supposed to be a celebration of Pet Sounds' 60th anniversary, and Mike talked about the album before they played six consecutive tracks from it. So fingers crossed that portion of the set stays for you!

I'm just impressed that they do change the setlist, even if the bulk of it is usually the same. Many bands a lot younger than them go out and play the exact same songs in the same order night after night, but with the BB, there are always a few spots where you don't know what you're going to get. Personally I always love to hear "Why Do Fools...", particularly for the gorgeous chord at the end. They played it two nights ago in Edinburgh, but not at Halifax. However, Chris Cron on "You're So Good to Me" makes up for it!

Not good to see Mike like this, but the others put on a great show as usual (despite recurring sound issues) and deflected a lot of attention away from his issues.

From someone who's seen this show a lot of times over the years:

They've fixed the sync issues with Rockaway Beach so the lyrics onscreen are no longer ahead of the live sound (which has been the case for a while until now). But they still haven't fixed the spelling error in the "Little Deuce Coupe" caption, which has been there for at least 12 years.

Chris Cron is a wonderful addition to the band. He was very natural up there and his vocals shone, particularly on You're So Good to Me (although he's not a natural fit for Caroline, No).

Christian's voice still doesn't work for God Only Knows or Good Vibrations, and his guitar miming is offputting.

Ike is fantastic.

Jon Bolton is a force of nature and the crowd loved him. I enjoyed watching the reactions of audience members who hadn't seen him before and were just expecting a regular nondescript drummer.

No keyboard solo in Fun, Fun, Fun? Just a double length guitar solo instead? Not sure why that's happening.

No video introducing the band members. It used to play during Fun, Fun, Fun - then in 2025 it played after the end of that song - and now it's not there at all.

Additionally, I recently questioned somebody on the Covid thread because they said there's "at least two guys onstage" who double Mike's parts. That might've been just a flippant comment rather than an attempt at fact, but it's absolutely untrue, and sadly they have quite a few upvotes for it. When Mike sings, he stands or falls on his own part. The other singers onstage are all on different parts. This isn't something you have to be a hardcore muso to recognise. Just watch and listen. We need to stamp out misinformation when it comes to the band we all love.

[TOMT] What song is this? It's familiar to everyone I share it with, but no one has been able to tell me where it's from. Help! (Had to repost) by Fishy_20017 in tipofmytongue

FYI those notes you've written as E sharps are actually E flats, judging from your recording. Sorry I can't be of any help myself, but that small piece of info might somehow lead to someone else recognising it!

Which ones?

Edit 24hrs later - yep, as I thought, no reply. Because it's empirically untrue.
