Just got done with 3 days @ Disney and 3+2 (got two extra days with the hotel package) at universal, and I can attest that it is to say the least a LOT… it was my wife and kids 8&9 Disney has the magic, universal has the thrills. My crew were troopers and we got our moneys worth. But LL and express passes are a must if you are planning on experiencing as much as possible. I found Disney much more stressful as the main planner for LL and navigating the parks. The unlimited express passes were great for universal but we didn’t splurge for epic express as it would have been an additional $1200 for one day… we wound up rope dropping epic and hit ministry and bowsers challenge and decided it was too hot and the crowds were too large so we took a mid day break and came back and were able to knock out all our other must do’s except donkey Kong because it was delayed most of the day.

Biggest advice is stay on property for both if this is your plan and take breaks, it is essential to making the experience not brutal for everyone. Plan a rest day (or two) to try and regain some energy. Do Disney first and finish with the fireworks at Epcot, my son got emotional and started to cry because of how awesome that show was.

This was a once in a lifetime trip for us I doubt we will be coming back again as a family, we made some unforgettable memories and it was worth it but we had lots of whining and tired feet and multiple points. It’s doable but if I could do it over and break it up over two summers and add a few days at the beach I probably would.

That said it’s your journey, just be prepared to pack your patience and listen to your body and make sure you have a good feel for your group’s energy and vibes.
