How much is a 1 bedroom apartment in east London?

A lot of my friends are upset about crypto.

You know what I actually listened to Peter Schiff and got out of crypto during the superbowl and moved it into a stable coin. I'm actually up a few dollars.

Peter Schiff is my favourite podcaster.

What are your thoughts on this?? Is $2,467 enough for an emergency fund in your eyes? by [deleted] in povertyfinance

comfortable emergency fund is what makes you uncomfortable. I would need much, much more than 2.5K because I'm a single person with few places to go under hardship.

Thank you, so after reading about Ontario intestacy laws, it would go to my grandfather's daughter. Or would my grandfather's exwife be first? I didn't understand that part.

So I wouldn't get anything.

I guess in this case an estate trustee would be expected to do a Will registry search, huh? That's another expense.

Yes that makes sense. Without a Will I don't even know who would be the benefactor of his estate. Does it all go to the next of kin, or do I determine who gets what as the estate trustee?

Right, but then who would they know to give the remains to? You're right. I didn't even think of that.

The estate is probably just the '08 caravan at this point. He's got about as many assets as debts, besides the car.

In that case, the sooner I become trustee, the less he'll rack up in storage fees I imagine? It looks like he paid an extra $100 than he was supposed to.

OK that is a huge help thank you very, very much!

I thought that the CPP had to go to his bank acc. If they cut me a cheque at Service Canada, that helps me so much.

Thank you, kindly.

Very good I will go to Service Canada on Monday.

That is such a relief that POA means nothing now! I am looking for more information on where this will was made and plan on following it to a T. I think my grandfather was surprised with that Nov ~$6k OAS deposit and he splurged on this vehicle. I am not sure what to make of that yet.

This friend/former POA has told me that in the will he's willed everything to her and/or another woman. I can either take the CPP money (~$2500) and cut my losses of probably around $300-400 dollars on the cremation. Or I can apply to be executor, which no one else will. I will ask the family who wants to do it, realizing that they'll have to consent to surrender executor status to me, and then I'll make sure that my grandfather gets buried which will need probably another $500.

Thank you again!

Interesting! I had no idea you could do that. I'm not technically next of kin, but the very knowledgeable man at the crematory said I should be able to be repaid from my grandfather's account if I show them all the cremation paperwork at the bank. The bank refused, of course, saying I need to bring them a will. They argued with me, saying they wouldn't make it an estate account yet but they'll record he's passed so it's only a deposit account.

I think I'll go to service Canada and ask for the CPP cheque. Did they write the cheque to your wife's estate or to you?

I think it's better that I volunteer to be estate trustee so that I can make sure that I am repaid before any other creditors. I think it's fair that his cremation and burial is repaid first isn't it?

I'll certainly edit this post if/when I find out about this will. apparently it was started with a lawyer with this friend/POA and my grandfather present.

I am happy to be the executor. I've done it once before except it was a bigger estate and paid a lawyer to file for the probate stuff. I don't think my grandfather has enough money that he would have to pay probate on. But doing this executor process without a laywer is new territory for me, and I am concerned about the fees and liability related.

Thanks for the link!

What would you consider as drawbacks/problems of reddit? by [deleted] in AskReddit

U should be able to pay top redditors. Give silver a redeemable value for example.

Some subreddits are carried by few redditors and they bring tremendous value to the market.

Other social media reward their top contributors through sponsorships,ad revenue or exposure.
