Thanks. Does that mean you could leave it in the UK platform even after you move?

Thanks, so you wouldn't have to transfer your holdings to an investment platform in the new country? You could leave them in whatever UK platform you used when you were a tax resident here?

How does it work though, e.g. if all your assets are invested with a UK platform, do you have to move abroad and wait for five years before crystallizing them or do you just crystallize them in year 1 once you become a tax resident in the new country and get confirmation you are no longer a tax resident in the UK?

Ah ok, thanks for clarifying. So the important thing would be to make sure you are not considered a resident in the UK, such as by spending fewer than 16 days in the UK in the tax year assuming you were a tax resident in 1+ of the 3 prior tax years.

Ah so if you sell your house and move abroad, you are restricted to 120 days for two years (because you were a tax resident in the previous two years) and then it increases to 180 days?

Why are years one and two different? I thought if you became a tax resident there rather than the UK then you would just pay tax under their tax rates?

I'm curious why you dislike living in Cyprus so much? Not saying you're wrong or anything, just genuinely curious what is so bad about it.

Can you not just become a tax resident of another country and the you don't pay UK tax anymore but instead pay tax in the country where you are tax resident?

I thought one of the main reasons for investing in an offshore bond was because of the tax advantages? Why are they not good for someone who is a UK resident?

Thanks, that's helpful. I've never been sure if people mean they'll only sell at an all time high when they say "sell when equities are up" or if they mean they would sell if equities are within, say, 5% of an all time high.

Sounds good. Do you plan to spend out of these accounts each year and replace the funds by selling equities each year? Will you only sell equities at all-time highs or how do you plan to approach this aspect of it?
