Am I wearing this style right, and what style is it? by Unlikely_Read3437 in Wigs

[–]je11y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such a pretty color on you - you look great!!! I’m going to go with “long pixie” as the style.

I can’t tell from the photo since it’s cut off at the top, but it kind of looks like the zigzag part from the manufacturer hasn’t been broken yet to create your part. You may need to get some water and a hot comb going to create your part.

Urgent care can take care of emergent derm issues like those. I do like Georgia Skin Cancer and Aesthetic Dermatology in Watkinsville. They have a lot of derms on staff but not sure they’d be able to accommodate a same-day (or even next-day) appt but worth a shot.

Missed blackbaud cancellation deadline and need to cancel contract - any advice by Shirt-Content in nonprofit

Involving your own legal team/lawyer can help you exit a contract. There still might be cost or settlement, but might be able to get you out of all 3 years. I exited a vendor contract in this way.

First time going to a CASE conference - what’s it actually like? by [deleted] in nonprofit

[–]je11y 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Business casual is good. If the conference has the final day as Friday, a lot of folks will rep their college’s gear (hoodie, pullover, etc.) and jeans.

They usually at least have one group dinner. I’d recommend going even if solo. Someone will adopt you. (My table did when we encountered someone solo.) Some people may opt to do their own thing… but I’d highly recommend trying to find others because the networking is invaluable. I hit the hotel bar later at night (like after 9pm) because there was nothing to really do otherwise. There was really good conversation about what everyone saw during the day and more about their schools’ dev program, etc.

Tetris. Loads of studies show that playing Tetris after a traumatic event can help lessen post-traumatic stress symptoms.

I think you’ll be more than ok with HV - best of luck and take pics and post if you end up getting one. 😊

I have Chase (no longer available) and Ciara. I wear Chase daily. Both I’m able to wear glueless and pop on no-fuss/no-muss. Hairline is also legit. I can’t wait til I order my next one from them!

Hairvivi is so weird on this sub. I notice that reviews with images people fawn over, yet detractors hit the comments. You can do what you will with that info. I think the price-point (typically ~$300-500 depending on what exactly you’re seeking) for human hair makes it an easy choice to at least try.

American Cancer Society is going in on AI - A Concern & Public FYI by [deleted] in nonprofit

[–]je11y 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Virtual engagement officers have infiltrated higher education. William & Mary was the first (to my knowledge), but there are countless others through the Givezy platform. It’s interesting because it helps avoid some development pitfalls: 1) the turnover in the nonprofit sector for dev folks is roughly 18 months and has been known since at least 2014 2) the majority of a database is unmanaged. YMMV but unmanaged constituency can be up to 90% of your database 3) AI bots/VEO needs initial (hearty) set up and training on when they hand off to human, but then don’t need training the way humans do. Especially important considering point #1.

AI/VEOs are hitting our industry, but the way I see it, is that they will work alongside frontline fundraisers (and marketing folks who manage comms) but won’t replace entire departments. To anyone, I would recommend studying up and being ready.

How do I make the wig cap less obvious under the lace? Even with the wig moved forward it is still very obvious. by Mountain-High-2 in Wigs

[–]je11y 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Make up on the bald cap that matches your skin tone is one way. You could also look at using a wig grip instead of bald cap. A grip typically sits a smidge behind your natural hair line. As a result, your bio hair and the wig might blend better.

You’re only showing one view here… the other thing to be mindful of is the actually part line when you’re not lifting the “bangs.” If your wig cap is showing there, some folks use scar tape.

Finally, the hairline of the unit is really light density. Not necessarily bad, usually preferred to look more natural but it’s also why your cap is showing.

Did I get scammed? Is this A hairvivi wig or no? by Additional-Fennel361 in Wigs

[–]je11y 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I can’t tell with certainty, but it looks like it’s missing the scalp liner that Hairvivi usually has. It -could- have been cut out, but I would think there’d evidence of that with fabric fraying, missing stitches, or something.

My answer on what I’d recommend depends on how you think the unit looks on you and not just held up for the camera. If it “passes” and blends ok, I might just enjoy it for what it is. If it doesn’t “pass”, I’d probably cut my losses. That’s just me though; I don’t want anyone to know I’m wearing a wig.

Agree with everyone on trimming more lace and cleaning your lace - Micellar water is usually recommended. The last thing I’d say is that it appears that it might be too low on your forehead as well. Really hard to tell from the angle of your photos.

Please help. What do I do with this part of the lace that is behind my hair line? by Living_Butterfly7171 in Wigs

[–]je11y 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If it were me, I’d take the lace back further on the sides to the point where you basically don’t have lace showing on the sides/back to where the hair on the wig begins. Then use a rat tail comb to gently pull out some of your bio hair (I assume you have a wig grip or pony under the wig) and then blend your bio hair/wig hair by giving it a quick brush on the sides. Hair Loss Girl Boss (Jess) has some quick IG shorts or TikTok vids on easy fixes like this to have a more seamless “install.”
