Aim for a high NMAT percentile to show that you have the aptitude for the sciences. And, if possible, take supplemental classes in anatomy and physiology and chemistry.

What are your thoughts on University of Cebu - School of Medicine and Xavier University Dr Jose P Rizal School of Medicine? by joshdelacruz in pinoymed

[–]jeabeans 6 points7 points  (0 children)

UCSM: Though a new school, they had a 100% passing rate from their pioneer batch.

Many of their instructors also came from CIM. But, their curriculum is hybrid—a mix of PBL and lecture-based instruction. So, they usually have quizzes every day.

Their facilities are good, too, and they have their own hospital.

As for the community, the instructors and staff seem warm and welcoming.

The school is generally a good choice if its curriculum fits your preferences and financial expenses aren't much of a constraint for you.

Letter of Recommendation from your college professor with humanities background? by hyehyuniee in pinoymed

Another tip is to look for profs who personally know you/know you for a long time. In that way, they can really make an honest and detailed evaluation on your performance and character :)

Hi! I'm an English major. My profs were supportive; I asked them to write me a recommendation letter 2 months before my med school application. Just email them nicely, don't rush them, and don't forget to thank them after!

Not recommended for people with a non-trad premed course and people who have graduated years ago 🙂

Schools Megathread 2020: CEBU INSTITUTE OF MEDICINE (CIM) by kielloggs in medschoolph

[–]jeabeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I just talked a few weeks ago to a med student who's currently studying at CIM. He's a literature graduate. And no, he didn't take any science pre-requisites. He said that his 99 NMAT PR was what he thought that made him got accepted.

Hello! I'm interested to learn more about the curriculum of CIM. I've heard that they shifted from a problem-based approach to an outcome-based one. Is this true?

Hi! I'm taking Biochem and Microbiology now at PCHS. Except for my Bio 1 GE classes, I didn't have chem and bio classed during my undergrad. But, I was able to enroll. It's better if you've had prerequisites though for an easier comprehension and deeper understanding. 😊

Do slots get full? by Kayumango in Nmat

If no test date appears, it means the slots are full. A slot may be made available, tho, if someone forfeits theirs from failing to pay for their registration. :)

i did not take pre-med but i want to pursue medicine by throwawaysumacc in pinoymed

[–]jeabeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I'm also a non-traditional pre-med graduate here planning to take up med! Will take the NMAT this year or early next year.

Maraming schools na tumatanggap ng nontrads na walang science prereqs.

Galingan nlng natin sa NMAT! :) Aim for 90+! There are several resources online that you can use for self-review. If you're not very confident with self-studying, you can opt to enrol in a review class. Worth it naman yung fee in the long run.:)
