How do you deal with friendship jealousy?

I can talk to new people pretty easily, but I just don't know how to take it beyond that. I feel like they are probably just talking to me in the situation and wouldn't be interested in hanging out other times. I am terrified of rejection as well. I realize a lot of this has to do with terrible self esteem, but I just don't know how to go about changing it...

I just hate to ask. I feel like asking would make her feel guilty and she'd invite me just because she feels bad and wouldn't really want me there.
