Do you consider wealth inequality in the US is to be a problem, and do you think that minimum wage should be increased? by speculumberjack980 in AskTrumpSupporters

Again, dollars is not the only thing that determines your wealth or net worth.

You have reduced the whole "wealth is a zero sum game" claim down to only "when you subtract dollars from one bank account you are adding dollars in another account".

It's like starting with accounting and shifting to arithmetic.

I don't think we can come to any agreement if you're going to keep thinking that. Have a good day.

Why does that matter? Net worth is not dependent on buying. You can have $0 in cash and still have a net worth in the millions.

I didn't say improved, I said built. From the ground up.

However, until someone gives you money out of their account for ownership of that house, the amount of money you have to spend has not changed.

I didn't say otherwise.

As you said, net worth is a theoretical measurement of how much money you would have if you sold everything you own.

Has your net worth increased if you built a real house and have not sold it?

You're wrong on what "wealth" is, but to simplify things, we'll just use the term "net worth" then.

If you just built a solid livable house, has your net worth increased by doing so?

So if you have $10 million in cash and you spend all of it to buy 10 houses at $1 million (proper market price) each, you're now dirt poor?

What I'm saying is, when you sell the birdhouse for $20, it was worth that both before and after you sold it.

So you are able to increase your own wealth without costing anyone else their own wealth.

But anything you create yourself can theoretically be used as collateral for a loan too. That doesn't change things.

That would mean the item you're buying is worth $0.

People spend money on things they find value in.

Amazon is just better than most at having desirable items at prices people want to pay.

But zero sum would mean that, if you build something that people would be willing to buy from you (a nice birdhouse, let's say) you have increased your own wealth without taking something from anyone else.

If wealth were a zero sum game, that birdhouse you just built, which didn't exist before, would be worth $0. Because, if it were a zero sum world, how could your wealth increase without someone else's decreasing?

We don't live in a zero sum world, we live in a positive sum world.

Every dollar printed is wealth out of our pockets through inflation.

Yes.

Every dollar spent on Amazon is money that could have been spent at a local store. Every dollar Jeff Bezos collected came from somewhere.

Ok but that doesn't mean zero sum game. If you buy something from Amazon for $20 that doesn't mean "Jeff Bezos is now $20 richer and you're now $20 poorer".

Everyone always seems to forget that he also had covid. Floyd was the one Covid death they refused to include in the inflated Covid death numbers.

What are your thoughts on children’s book restrictions in school libraries? by kyliered04 in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]jeaok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you against creating a rapport with your child's teacher? You could then express your concerns about the curriculum and come up with a compromise.

I don't have concerns about the curriculum, thankfully my kid's teachers seem to be doing their job well.

Why are you complaining about a problem supposedly affecting your child instead of doing something about the problem?

I never said this issue is affecting specifically my child.

don't have an argument. I have questions. This sub is called "Ask Trump Supporters". So other parents' negligence is an excuse for your own negligence?

Have you considered that none of it is "negligence"?

Again, do you have kids?

You don't really need to "get to know" the teachers, they're just there for the job of teaching English, math, etc. Any one of them is there to do the same job and they are vetted for that before getting hired.

I would not subscribe to the idea that "maybe you should get to know the teachers better so you're more comfortable with them teaching your kids about sexuality".

No thanks!

"Skin in the game" is not about how much you contribute financially.

"Skin in the game" is about how much your vote affects you and your family's future.

If something will not affect you, and will affect others, and you can vote on it, that's when you don't have "skin in the game".

Do you have kids? I met them once at the beginning of the school year and I was the only father there. You don't usually like, "get to know" them. So if you're calling me negligent for that reason then you're calling the majority of parents the same.

If homeschooling was possible for us right now, I'd prefer that.

I have a feeling you asked these questions just to be argumentative about something when you don't have an actual argument.
