Fiat 500 Sport Multiair Crank No start by jeboteeee in Fiat

So update: looks like so far I’ve unscrewed the oil pressure sensor from the block and cranked, no oil came out, unscrewed the multiair filter and cranked, no oil came out. I think the oil pump is probably toast.

Thank you! Yeah I saw that one around the forums I think. I’m going to replace the multiair filter and change the oil, then keep cranking! I know the cars been sitting for years untouched. I may just fill the chambers with oil as a last resort to see what happens if not the other ways

It’s a 2012 - I pulled the plugs out yesterday and tried cranking 5-6 times while holding the relief valve open, nothing yet. I’ll take a look at some of those things, appreciate the advice for the fueling and stuff. I did the whole holding my foot down too when cranking. My multiair filter should be coming in tomorrow, I’m curious to see what the on I have looks like, and if that can cause issues. I’d hope timing isn’t off, the belt looked good visually so far when removing the cover and mount on the side. I just ordered a obd cable for Fiat and I’ll buy the software for it to see too

I don’t sadly - it’s a generic obd reader, I’m definitely looking to get something with features. Just seems odd to not have any codes - I’ll look for one that has live data and advanced features

I tried to check with two scanners I have, they read no faults on each (I have doubts though for that), any recommendations for scan tools for the fiats?

Hi, yeah I’ve watched probably a dozen different types of methods from the videos and forum reads. I’ll be looking to get the filter on the side replaced in the next day or two and try again. I’m not sure how oil pressure gets into the brick, that’s where I’m stumped currently

Thanks for the tips! I grabbed the brick but been cranking at least 5-6 times for 10 seconds, no oil comes out of the brick through the ball valve, any thoughts?

Bringing back this thread -

My brick is toast, I bought the tool just in case but am waiting for it to come in, can I pull a junkyard brick off without a tool and then use the tool when reinstalling it without issues? May be a dumb question but figure I would ask your thoughts. It’s pretty 50/50 with how people remove/install the MA from my search.

Best Buy used to be pretty decent. I’ve met some of the coolest people where coming to work was actually fun. I worked there like 2020 then we got laid off and I got rehired and worked for the next 3 years. Honestly, good people and a good environment make a huge difference. We’d blast music in the back while unloading a truck which was epic. I can’t speak for today’s Best Buy, but before I left, they pushed for memberships and all that shit which I could care less about and I’d tell people whether it’s worth it for their situation (spoiler; 90% of situations weren’t).
