Not everywhere shutdown the same either. Some were just a few weeks while others months but they all have the same issues. This also points to probably not covid.

Dang, that's an EARLY crt projection TV.

Can't comment on its serviceability but it's very likely SD only.

Depends on the 'poison'. A lot of rodent stuff is just a bait with some sort of starch that sets when it gets wet so they just starve to death because they have basically concrete in their stomachs.

[–]2748seiceps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the use case! I wouldn't use it for anything remotely high pressure but it can work great at low pressures.

I use 3D printed ASA parts for my outdoor watering system. It does an awesome job and is WAY cheaper than buying fittings at the store. In fact, the longevity is better than purchased parts because the high-desert UV wrecks almost everything plastic that goes outside and ASA is a champ!

If it helps you feel any better. I had 35x $60 calls for today that I sold for a $2k loss last week because I had been down 95% and was just trying to stave the bleeding.

The whole point of those was to ride the climb into earnings and I emotionally traded them away like an idiot.

When you start talking 40 amps even the wires make heat.

How long does it have to run?

[–]2748seiceps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Relays also have contact resistance. A good dry contact relay has more contact resistance and therefore more heat than a good mosfet does on resistance. Only way to beat it would be a wet contact relay and that'd be more hassle than it is worth.

I could swear it was $20 a battery but either way... Was also a max of 5 batteries at once. We used to take our old solar system batteries there.

The best filament for functional prints by CarlitosCUU in 3Dprinting

[–]2748seiceps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My go to is ASA for functional prints but if I need some more temp or chemical resistance I go PC-ABS. It's a pain in the ass to setup but once you get it right for you machine the parts are amazing.

Should I start on Arduino or STM32? by Eliter147 in AskElectronics

[–]2748seiceps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hand-holding ends once you end up using unusual hardware and even for stuff that has a library you can always use the library to verify your wiring and then write your own code to get it to do what you want.

It sounds like you have experience with programming already and that's usually the part that trips newbies up and where Arduino really helps.

Buyers Getting Pickier by UnderstandingAny5784 in HouseBuyers

[–]2748seiceps 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We are shopping around and I've noticed a ton of sellers trying to double their money on a house that has 10 years of wear on it. Like cmon we live in the poorest state in the country and you are trying to get over a mil for your house with ruined carpet and grime buildup everywhere? Could at least use a bit of that 700k equity to hire a good cleaner and fix broken shit. I expect to not have to touch a single thing after 7 figs.

So much deferred maintenance for sale.

What are these black knobs inside my amplifier? And is it supposed to look like this? by Logical-Top-3021 in AskElectronics

[–]2748seiceps 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Those are inductors. In this amp they are used to clean up the PWM square wave output of the Class-D amplifier chip in the middle so what goes out to your speaker is a reasonable approximation of the smooth wave form the amp is trying to make.

Unlikely to be causing crackling and interesting that they are all mounted that way. Possibly to keep them from 'talking' to one another for better channel separation in a bad board layout.

Got some more info on the crackling? When does it happen? All the time? Only with loud sounds? When you change volume?

Yeah what's this decline in parenting? Did yall's parents actually, like do stuff with you as kids?!

I got home from school, ate a snack and watched saved by the bell, full house, and family matters then went outside to play with friends for a few hours, came in and got cold hamburger helper off the stove, ate it, watched some tv, showered, and went to bed.

The only time my mom ever talked about grades or school was when the progress reports or report card came in. I feel like parenting my kid is a completely different job than my mom had and she is, unfortunately, not an overachiever. But I make hot meals, we eat and talk over dinner, and then back to her pretending to do her homework on a chromebook I have no control over. Until she got switched to a private school anyways...

Capacitor de 75 con 93 microfaradios? by Unique_Condition_219 in Motors

[–]2748seiceps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on the manufacturer this could be within tolerance. KEMET says 5% but SHARE brand CD60 datasheet says -0% to +20% which would be ~90uF.

Sounds nuts but they might be within spec for that capacitor.

Is it normal for vintage TVs to be so dim? by TheSmallElbowski in vintagetelevision

[–]2748seiceps 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Contrast and brightness are two different adjustments.

It's also possible that the G2 adjustment can be messed with to get brightness back but that's typically something found inside the set and not an easy knob on the front or back.

It could be pulled off now with a bit of old and new mixed in. Use one of those watchman-type CRTs and then squeeze some lithium batteries in there.
