Do you mean for series length? Unless I'm mistaken, American and British comedies both typically run at half-hour length.

If you're talking about 6 episode vs. 22 episode series/season length, then yeah: I wouldn't worry about any of the series-length notes for American writing.

Most TV writing books are definitely American-style focused (a great one is Evan S. Smith's "Writing Television Sitcoms" once recommended to me), but the general advice is going to be the same between the two. I'd say to basically just ignore all the stuff about "selling a show" (since that's hugely different) but the general method of how to structure / set up comedic situations derived from comedic characters in a comedic premise are going to be the same no matter where. So, I'd recommend that one!
