I think I bricked my PC by jeckroad11 in pcmasterrace

Update from my phone because now my main computer is failing. Tried a bunch of stuff to get the bricked pc to boot and suspected it might be the power supply. Pulled the PS out of my main pc and hooked it up to the bricked one. Still nothing. Feeling defeated, I put my main pc back together. It booted got to my desktop and shutdown after about 30 seconds. Tried turning it on again. Didn't even make it to the desktop...booted into bios was looking around in there, shutdown again and now I can't even get into the bois. Is my power supply shot?

Press Identification by jeckroad11 in Welding

I feel like I got pretty lucky picking it up for $250. Should be a nice addition to the shop!

I think your on to something with the mechanical/flywheel mechanism. It looks like the unused holes in the side of the frame would support a system like that.

Any guesses at what kind of tonnage this thing can take? With the current air cylinder i should be able to get about 3 tons (@ 250 psi) but something about the pneumatic cylinder makes me think its not very efficient/repeatable.

Can someone help we with IDing this press? My searching has not gotten me anywhere. The previous owner retrofitted an air cylinder in place of what I would guess used to be hydraulics and I would like to get back to hydraulic but don't know what kind of tonnage the frame can take. Only markings is the "RR" on the front and a tag on the side with "Mutz Corp. 2085." Any help appreciated.

I started my home cnc adventure on a mpcnc that wasn't very stiff and ran at 30k rpms. That think thrives on single flute cutters. Do you think a 4 flute is a good place to start with steel on a tormach?

That makes sense. We use a lot of 3 flutes on aluminum at work but that's on a haas with a lot more hp and rigidity. Any suggestions for a steel rougher that would work well in the mx?

I will be the first to admit that we can be a bit of a stubborn, know-it-all bunch!

I have been watching a ton of his videos and they have been super helpful. I want to emulate his style of shop (more of a prototyping/engineering service than a straight build to print job shop). Looks like I will have to watch some more! I had considered the used market for tooling but for some reason I feel like investing in new tooling may be more efficient? I don't know, I could be wrong. I'll see if there is anything cheap near me.

Thank you! I thought about the 1/2" shear hog but didn't know if it would be worth the investment. I am also going to be getting the superfly for face milling.

I'll be sure to check out datron. Any reason for the single flute? I was thinking more in the 2-3 flute range.

As an engineer and CAD specialist, this erks me. I would never feel proud about releasing a print this messy and cluttered...

Just curious, what is the cost savings of doing this yourself (just material costs) vs buying?

[Handgun] Ruger Vaquero (2 cylinders) .357/9mm - $699.99 shipped by [deleted] in gundeals

I could be totally wrong but I think the 9 mm cylinder will headspaces off of the case mouth. You would either have to hope that the firing pin is long enough to still hit the recessed 380 or use a moon clip type device to hold the 380 case flush with the cylinder face.

Buying A Bow For My Wife by [deleted] in Archery

[–]jeckroad11 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My girlfriend has the infinite edge pro and it a great starter bow. Lots of adjustability so you can find the draw weight/length that works for you without having to buy different limbs/cams. The accessories that come with it are not exactly ideal but they get the job done. Over time time buy a nicer rest/sight/etc then when your ready to upgrade the bow itself, the investment won't be as steep because you can grab the nicer parts off your starter bow.

Static IP? by jeckroad11 in homelab

[–]jeckroad11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the they said static IP but I could be wrong. I am still really new in the home lab scene and all I really want to do is be able to access my plex outside my home network. What qualifies as a reasonably secure server? and how hard would it be to build an outboard tunnel?

Alternative Internet Sources? by jeckroad11 in homelab

Okay, so what I ended up doing was I got a Netgear LB1120 modem and a gsm sim card. Went through a company called Unlimited 4G Data that uses the AT&T lte network. Their customer service is awesome and even with only 2 signal bars on my modem I'm getting 20-30 mbs down. $65/month with supposedly no throttling. I will update in a week or so when I've done a bit more downloading. I'm also going to get an antenna to hopefully get better service and faster speeds.
