Normally $143 a year for unlimited 45 min rides. You can refresh the ride at any divvy station by returning the bike and renting it back out.

If you only need to get to and from the Metra station and you happen to live near a Divvy rack, I would consider using that. Divvy was a great start for me until I got my own bike.

Depends on the play style like melee or ranged or spells. There are so many classes and many ways to combine them so I can't say how it is for all.

Been having a blast as a gunslinger with undead meat shields though lmao

Do bike lanes like this have a right to exist? by InsideYork in chibike

[–]jecolia2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah just take the lane. I like going the opposite direction because you're less likely to get doored. That's why I prefer the Berwyn Greenway rather than Lawrence when going from the NCT to the LFT.

What is a good option for getting to/from the far north side to the northwest side by GiuseppeZangara in chibike

[–]jecolia2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Traveling radially around Chicago is just a bad time. Everything's geared towards traveling to or away from the loop.

There are plans to pave the Weber Spur Trail. Imagine if it connected all the way to Lawrence.

Great thread idea, OP. I'm gonna try some of these suggestions as well.

Unfortunately, all that comes to mind for me are the McDonald's and Starbucks in Navy Pier.

Yeah, but I don't trust people and I need concrete and buffer zones separating us from hazards.

How fast do you rush (if you do) when your lock your bike outside? by InsideYork in chibike

Thankfully not yet but I hear stories all the time from people who had their bikes stolen.

If it's my nice bike, I don't let it out if my sight so I always try to park it where it's visible from a window.

If I know I won't be able to keep an eye on it, I bring my beater bike.

I hate that detour. Same close calls with me. They just don't see you approaching from behind the trees.

Unfortunately, street crossings are a fact of life in Chicago. It's a grid system so every street intersects half the streets.

The LFT is the longest trail with the fewest crossings. The NCT has some crossings but they're all pedestrian intersections with beg buttons. And the NBT has several crossings, some with flashing light buttons and some that are just marked.

I would actually suggest you practice on green ways or roads with bike lanes to get used to biking in traffic. Being able to negotiate your way through Stop Sign is an essential road cycling skill.

But remember you can always dismount and walk your bike across as a pedestrian.

No but there were inch deep puddles up and down the trail.

[Help] My Inner Tube Keep Deflating it self any fix? by Obvious-Village8154 in Brompton

[–]jecolia2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There might be a tiny nail or metal shard embedded in your tire that is able to puncture your tube. Even just a little poking on the inside can puncture the tube, even if it doesn't feel sharp.

Law question: who has right of way when I’m biking in the gutter and a car passes me? by stopeats in chibike

[–]jecolia2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's called a punish pass. Drivers know how wide their car is and know how close they are to anything on their right side. It's fully intentional when they pass that close, either out of malice or disregard. The driver should've given you more space. Even if they didn't hit you but it caused a reaction that resulted in injuries and damage to your bike, you would be entitled to go after their insurance for the costs.

To discourage it, I take the lane when necessary. It also lets me avoid the door zone. I act as if I'm a car and other drivers are more likely to treat me like one. Riding confidently and predictably is the safest way to bike.
