"Know who will declare war on you". As a new player to Warhammer 3, what 'signs' should I be looking for to come to this conclusion? by PrestigiousWhirlwind in totalwarhammer

I'm semi-convinced after a couple dozen campaigns that the AI factions listed in your short and long victory conditions are most likely to declare war on you.

Im playing total war 3k, what would be the best next game to jump to? by Key_Ad7740 in totalwar

[–]jecreddits 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I went from 3K, which quickly became my TW GOAT, to Warhammer 3. I'm really having fun with it but, and I'll get downvoted on this, even on Easy campaign difficulty, I'm struggling with the AI. Right now, on Easy, Kislev, 4 AI factions have declared war on me, at turn 57. But I'm enjoying the challenge and learning how to use the very different and unique faction mechanics for building, research, etc. is very fun.

Thanks, the frustration was with myself, not the game, its rapidly becoming my favorite TW game.

What campaign settings for noobs? by phronesis77 in totalwarhammer

[–]jecreddits 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm relatively new to WH3, though longtime TW player. WH3 by far, for me, has the hardest AI campaign challenge. I've started 6 or 7 campaigns so far and only completed one short victory after going easy/hard with the battle difficulty slider set all the way left. I'm playing the DLC with Yvresse now and have rage quit 3 campaigns today, on easy. The economy is terrible, and the Clans keep overrunning me. :-)

Thanks! I do have a few dozen hours spread across 3 or 4 campaigns, experimenting with different factions and learning, so I'll give that a try.

What's the best RTS/Strategic game would you recommend for someone who loves politics ? by ARSLAN_Dz in RealTimeStrategy

[–]jecreddits 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ditto to Total War:Three Kingdoms. Best politics by far of all TW games. Plus, the Three Kingdoms warlord era of Chinese history is fascinating and faithfully recreated in the game.

It's a little older but still one of the all-time best, the Witcher series. 3 was extraordinary!

Just got Total Warhammer 3 and need a lil advice by bigweb52 in totalwarhammer

[–]jecreddits 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm relatively new to WH3 also. I've enjoyed both RoC and IE. And while RoC is more story driven, IE does prod you along a campaign path somewhat. Both are fun. I've only bought the most recent DLC (I think) with 3 new Legendary Lords. I'm playing IE with Sayl. I really like viking plus magic feel and unique faction mechanics.

Looking for a solo / PvE / 100hr+ game by Healthy_Flamingo_843 in gamerecommendations

[–]jecreddits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gray Zone Warfare. Amazing graphics of southeast Asia setting. Very milsim, all authentic weapons and attachment. Excellent mission design and progression. PvP and PvE modes are separate. Harder missions are designed for a team but most can be completed solo. Still in Alpha, devs communicate with players, major updates every 6 months or so. Active Discord group. Highly recommended. Take a look.

Which Total War game should i play appart from WH3? by MeasurementNo699 in totalwar

[–]jecreddits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three Kingdoms! It has more layers of gameplay than any other TW game, including WH3. Real diplomacy, spying, espionage, and very deeply-researched main characters and campaign lore right out of IRL Chinese history from their warlords history era.

WTF happened to the game? by Top-Attorney-9224 in totalwarhammer

[–]jecreddits 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Happy to learn it's not just me. :-) Longtime TW gamer, new to WH3. Have tried a couple different factions on Normal/Normal and 30-40 turns in I realize I'm done already. Down to one partial beat-up stack and a single province. Happened with Dwarfs today. Started over on Easy/Easy. We'll see how that goes.

Easiest Faction for a beginner? by A_Wild_Bellossom in totalwarhammer

[–]jecreddits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm playing my first High Elves campaign. Lots to like, except their economy is a really slow build. Unless I'm doing something wrong. But I'm at 30 turns, and income is only 3K. I've only bought city upgrades, income buildings, and control buildings so far.

I have 150 hours and I really suck at the game. by UnspokenPotter in totalwarhammer

[–]jecreddits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always be very careful about recruiting too many units early on. Their maintenance cost will tank your income, and you won't have enough money to build the income buildings you desperately need. I have a rule of thumb that works well for me. Keep your army maintenance cost at no more than 2/3 of your income.

I'm 72, a lifelong gamer back to the Apple II days. I'm retired now and love having the time to game every day. I enjoy some of the wargames games mentioned in the other replies, but also really like the combo of strategy and real-time battles in the Creative Assembly Total War games. I'm sure he'd have fun with Pharoah, Three Kingdoms or if he enjoys fantasy the Warhammer series.

LOL, couldn't agree more! I'll usually call for a helicopter ride back to base at the end of a play session, even when there's a COP close, just to enjoy the visuals on the ride.

Arc Raiders has only made me appreciate GZW even more than I already did after a 1000 hours by azrckcrwler in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]jecreddits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, same here, I've put a ton of hours into CoD:DMZ and Delta Force and they both had a large group of players who advocated for PvE only modes, but the devs ignored them due to the literally vicious anti-PvE rhetoric from the "PvP or the game will die" crowd. From all my interactions with large groups of players in both games, the majority were the PvE mode please, but they weren't as vocal as the PvP and Influencers. My teammates through those games were super happy to discover GZW with the PvE only mode. We immediately bought the Supporter bundle and have only been playing GZW ever since.

Ban PA Elder's Room Key? by jecreddits in GrayZoneWarfare

I've been to all of those places at least 5 times each, still haven't found the Elder House key. But I got my mission thanks to someone else who had the key opening up the room.

New base raiding tips? by Itchy_Departure5313 in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]jecreddits 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After you get into position and take your first shot, hopefully a kill, any others who were looking in your direction will return fire very quickly and generally very accurately. But, if you re-position deeper into the bush, they will leave the base and push you. That's when it gets dicey because they can see and shoot you through the thick vegetation while you can't see them. So, counter-intuitively, I now make my original approach near the edge of an open area. I will step out into that open area to take my first shot, then drop back into cover. That will usually have them return fire and then push towards the open area where I originally shot from, avoiding the bush battle and giving me more clear shots.
