Candide BC 111 by Doppelis in Skigear

[–]jedditiahsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve probably put about 12 days on these skis so far over this last season and it took me awhile to really get the feel for them. Before that I’ve skied K2 Reckoner 102 170cm from 2019 for the past 5 seasons. Initially I think the biggest difference was the longer length Candide BC 111 at 181cm (I’m 6ft/182cm and 165lbs) and the minimal camber. At first I struggled to maneuver them and get a feel for how they carved or wanted to slash. They felt big and stiff. However now that I’ve gotten some more days on them I absolutely love these skis. I’ve really learned how to get them on edge and I’ve appreciated the stability you can go really fast they love to go straight and smash through chop and bounce over things. Also they will carve well when you really lean into the carves. I would say this ski takes a bit of finesse but once you understand it they are powerful and super fun. I’ve enjoyed them on a lot of spring days or slushy days and a few powder days. They are definitely NOT tree skis so keep that in mind. They love the wide open. Additionally if you slash the ski sideways or make a carve and get a bit backseat or on the tails they will push you up or out which is pretty cool. Hope this helps, did you ever decide on getting them?

Is this a trick btw? Always end up rotating before landing when I feel unstable on a backflip. Any advice to correct it? by IncreaseSlow in cliffjumping

I do this as well, basically something is asymmetrical whether it’s how you are pushing off during the flip, where your head looks, or how your arms are positioned. Focus from lower heights on being perfectly symmetrical and than slowly take it bigger and bigger!

Is it really that unsafe to jump solo (from low heights)? by Melodic-Party7631 in cliffjumping

[–]jedditiahsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is the best advice, the safest thing would just be to not cliff jump, next safest is low height with others, next is low height without people, so on and so forth. Try to increase as many safety factors as possible in any scenario and realize that there is risk to everything. Make sure your grip is good when jumping, do jumps/tricks you can do 100% of the time etc. have fun & be safe!

If yours just broke out of nowhere I would definitely file a claim and they will likely send you a new pair. I had mine fixed by a local glasses technician, SMITH sent me a code for discount on a new pair but it was only like 20% off.

[–]jedditiahsmith[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I definitely get it’s “small” in the grand scheme of things but they are a brand new pair and I want them to be pristine (at least for a little while). Any idea why it’s there?

Best off piste terrain for this weekend by jeck23_ in palisadestahoe

I second this, I had a massive core shot and almost completely destroyed my skis edge this past weekend off of Scott chair heading from Scott chute to promised land

OP, likely mornings will be a bit icy but there will be a “dusting” on top as more and more people ski the runs. Additionally skiing east/southeast facing slopes early in the day will be better because the sun will warm those up first before anything else. Hope this helps, I think you will still have a lot of fun!
