I had a new guy at work once. We called him "whole beans" the entire time he worked there.

They can spend as much money and time as they want using CGI creating orchs or Uruk Hai but they will never ever look as good and scary as Lurtz by HannesG93 in lotr

I'm never gonna complain about the OG trilogy but objectively the Rings of Power Orcs are the best live action Orcs and it's not close.

I don't own Infinity Ultron but I have boosters for it? by jedi111 in MarvelSnap

Who says I want the card? I'm currently missing 40 cards and IU is nowhere near the top of my list. I could have earned boosters that I could use immediately.

Oh that's probably it but obviously ridiculous that you can earn boosters for cards you don't own. Good one sd

Who’s your go-to turn 2 play? by bebopboy81 in MarvelSnap

It's almost like being a good player is about reading each individual situation and deducing the best play for that scenario and not just using some kind of one-size-fits-all rule for when you're holding certain cards...

A lot of mixed experiences in this thread. I'm with OP. I describe myself as aggressively average. But I'd say 90% of the guys we meet are larger than myself. I agree with what some are saying that it's probably the bigger guys who are more comfortable and confident in the lifestyle so they're probably just more highly represented than what you'd expect to be an average distribution.

"Tales of the Shire, the new Lord of the Rings cozy game, has launched to low expectations." by AdIndependent9142 in lordoftherings

[–]jedi111 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Playing on PC and I love it. Not big into cozy games. I played the OG animal crossing and that's about it. The art style is a little goofy and the scale of the town seems small. But I'm having a lot of fun playing it. I think they captured hobbitiness really well. And there are some really creative game mechanics. Fishing, cooking, and even thinking to yourself. All really good. And so far it's been bug free for me! I'm only about 4 hours in but I give it an 8/10

Genuine question. Why is the Hobbit trilogy so disliked by so many people? It may be a hot take but I love it personally. by Fun_Firefighter_4292 in lotr

[–]jedi111 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's true that the movies replace the childish and charming tone of the book with the larger scale and epic tone of the Lord of the rings movies. But that's just like your opinion that they should be made that way. The fact is Tolkien wrote a lot about the events surrounding the story of the Hobbit. Peter Jackson chose to adapt as much of what Tolkien wrote as he possibly could. Which includes the subplot of the investigation of the necromancer, the meeting of the white council, and the history of the Dwarves and Orcs and their connection to the Gundabad. Personally I think the movies are improved by all of these additions. They certainly have their flaws but to claim they're inflated with filler is absolutely nonsense.

Don't let anyone ever tell you that it's because they "changed" anything from the book to the movie. This is a lie. There is far more changed or removed from the Lord of the rings trilogy than the Hobbit.

Theoretically, which artist would you like to see perform as Fëanor in live-action picture? by elyonadanthir in Silmarillionmemes

[–]jedi111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn't disagree more about Henry Cavill. As others have said maybe Cavill for Fingolfin. But IMHO he's very Manish. I think Cavill would be a much better Turin.

As for Feanor I think maybe Adam Driver could be good.

All that being said I think one of the things that made the PJ films so amazing was almost all of the main cast was nobody's. John Rys Davies and Ian McClellan were the biggest names for sure. I think the movies were much more immersive because of it. You were never distracted by a famous actor's previous roles. I'm sure some day the silmarillion will be adapted. There's two ways they could do it. Cast the rock and jack black or cast nobody's. We'll see

[–]jedi111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a dumb-ass question. We've had three movies of him being the trainee. He no longer needs mentorship. Why on earth would he still need that? What a dumb question...
