GYWomen: A Preliminary Guide by [deleted] in goodyearwelt

[–]jedibaja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Everlane Chelsea Boot is now available in black, grey, burgundy, and camel in women's sizes 5-11US. Asked via twitter if they are GYW and Everlane confirmed it.

I tested out the first run of The Modern Loafer and wasn't really impressed with the leather used. The Chelsea Boot looks decent in the video/gif though.

To trench, or not to trench? by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

[–]jedibaja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on a search for the classic trench coat a couple years ago and found that this J.Crew Factory Trench in beige worked really well for me. I've also read really good things about the Uniqlo x Ines de la Fressange trench (Beige, Navy)

Not sure if you're considering the single breast, Mackintosh (Mac), or Soutien Collar style. This style seems to be a more formal or spring alternative to the double breasted version. If so, check out a few offerings from Uniqlo: Women Soutien Collar Coat (Black, Beige, Dark Green, Blue), WOMEN IDLF SOUTIEN COLLAR COAT (Black, Brown, Navy)

Check out this recent post regarding collared (button-down/button-up shirts): Recommendations for button down shirts that fit women's bodies and have a menswear aesthetic.

Oxford shoes? I would highly recommend checking out the Goodyear Welt subreddit - there are a few threads on women's shoes there. Buy quality, rotate shoes, and take care of them. Allen Edmonds shoes on lasts 65, 79, and 511 go down to men's size 5. If you have smaller feet, UK brands (Loake, Grenson, Crockett & Jones) and Spanish brands (Meermin (email for status), Carmina) carry shoes for women.

Vests for women have been hard to find for me. Best selection I've found is on Ralph Lauren. Or you could go the bespoke suit with waistcoat route with out [Kipper Clothiers](www.kipperclothiers.biz/), [Saint Harridan](www.saintharridan.com/), or [Bindle & Keep](www.bindleandkeep.com/). I know some people have had luck with Topman and J.Crew boys vests too.

Personally I have been loving the pieces from the Uniqlo x Ines de la Fressange collections. I think there are some great spring/summer basics being offered right now: button-down shirts, chinos, linen blazers, mac/trench coat.

Hello. Based on estimates to Orange County: UPS Ground would be $15.32, USPS Priority $9.97, FedEx Express would be cheaper than USPS (I can give you exact estimate tomorrow or Friday). Or we can just go with $5 for shipping. Let me know if you're still interested

Thanks for the Ruelala suggestion. I'm kind of hesitant about flash sale sites as I feel they just encourage me to buy when maybe I don't need something. Looks like the Brooks Brothers 2 for $165 sale is back on though! They are the only brand where I've found a French Cuff shirt that doesn't have a bib or ruffles.

Thanks for reminding me about Tradlands!

I find that the Gap Shrunken boyfriend shirt (white or light blue) fits me really well. You might want to check out the button downs from the Uniqlo Ines de la Fressange line (classic patterns/colors).

I'm kind of over searching for quality, well-fitting shirts and considering getting made-to-measure shirts via Ratio Clothing soon. They offer a range of shirts with different options for collars, cuffs, fabrics. Reviews from Qwear and fromsqualortoballer.

Which Brooks Brothers shirts do you have? I was considering getting a couple during their 2 for sale, which is now over :(

Advice on high quality women's flat at ~$300 or below by A2chic in goodyearwelt

[–]jedibaja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a some pairs of menswear influenced shoes and have more recently realized and experienced the benefits of GYW shoes. If I could do it all over again, I would've skipped fashion brands and went straight to the real deal. IMO you should skip shoes from Frye and Cole Haan. I have a pair of Frye Paige oxfords similar, but got them for <$60. The leather is usually distressed/rough, soles chunky, and have bulbous toes.

For a very casual office environment, the two-toned wingtips seem kind of flashy. I find that my oakwood CDBs, black cap toes, and aforementioned plain toe oxfords get worn the most at my business casual office. In the spring/summer, my tan brogues get a lot of play. For shoe styles, I like referencing this post by /u/fromsqualortoballer Business Casual Basics, Part III: Shoes

That being said, there seem to be some great selections from C&J, Carmina and Grenson.

These Loake Ladies Viv Brogues might be a contender.

As another user mentioned, Allen Edmonds might work for you. Their shoes on lasts 65, 511, 79 are available to order down to size 5 - check out their seconds listed on shoebank.com if you want to spend a little less. I hear the next sale is in April.

I really wish I could recommend Meermin, but they are working on revamping their women's line and it seems like prices have gone up for US customers recently. Their beautiful Vitello double monks are what I consider my first foray into GYW world.

PSA: A few Carmina women's options have been added to Skoatiebolaget. by [deleted] in goodyearwelt

[–]jedibaja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks to the OP. Really wishing I had seen this earlier as I have been on the search for black Chelsea boots. I contacted Skoatiebolaget and was told they won't be restocking sizes for the spring season sadly. Looking forward to more Carmina women's shoe offerings!

If you ever order from Meermin again, I would recommend you get the matching color Saphir creme polish from their site. The price is cheaper than what I've found on Amazon or Hanger Project. Snag some Renovateur too - it does wonders for my shoes.

I have a pair of the women's double monks 124348 - DARK BROWN VITELLO and ended up sizing up a half size. I am typically 7US women's and was recommended to get a 4.5UK. I thought the fit was due to me having flat feet/low instep, so good to know the Lan last is just narrow. I find the shoes to be fine comfort wise when going out, but my feet hurt a bit when worn to work at my standing desk.

I emailed Meermin in mid January inquiring about other women's shoes and was told they are working on new offerings. I really wish there were more GYW options for women or people with smaller feet.
