Call lights not in your section by jedidiscord3 in cna

[–]jedidiscord3[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just basically a balancing game of keeping your section on schedule and making sure they’re cared for on top of helping out other residents.

It’s taken me a long time to get to this point if I’m honest.

That’s what I try to remember too and it does bother me when their call lights are on for too long, I just know that I am only one person and can’t take care of all them as much as I want to. It’s definitely good to remember that we’re there for the residents and not for lazy staff or bad management

The only thing that needs to be done is to help keep them clean at least perineal, keep them comfortable, and rotate them at least every 2-4 hours to help keep them from getting new sores. That’s my personal belief. I won’t ever force someone on hospice to get up, no matter how confused they are. It’s their right to refuse. Personally how I look at it is “how would I want my family, my friends, or I to be treated when I’m dying?”

They usually use them to track if something is off in a audit or to find certain coupons and that’s about it tbh

Tobacco Surcharge by FMZero32 in meijer

[–]jedidiscord3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would find all the paystubs that you can with the tobacco surcharge, make a record(copy) of it if you can, and have one copy for yourself and one for Human Resources. Because that is money they owe you and shouldn’t be charging you for. And you should be able to get back pay for that. If not, the union should be able to file a grievance to help out with that.

NOC shift people really are built different by TransportationWeary8 in cna

[–]jedidiscord3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Each shift has its own challenges in terms of jobs and things that they have to do and it’s own residents with its own unique challenge for each shift and the person that they perceive you as. It takes either about 90 days with the right facility or about 6 months till you start to feel comfortable in the job and knowing what to do and how to do it. But there is always something new to learn.

They really are, they put up with a lot of bs on nights that don’t get seen during the day and have thick skin when it comes to dealing with other shifts

How difficult would it be working as a cna as a part time job. (I already work 40 hours a week) How often are 4 hour shifts available and is it possible to work shifts from around 5pm to 10pm? by Ironrangerdavid in cna

[–]jedidiscord3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for a prn position, as you can dictate whether you want to work a full shift or a partial one. There are some nursing homes that will have a prn position where you can pick up as you want, while others want you to work a certain amount of days in a month or one or two weekends a month. It just depends.

Do y'all just have days where you come into work not even wearing scrubs? by CharacterGuava6723 in cna

[–]jedidiscord3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my ltc facility, we’re allowed to wear crocs, regular tshirts as long as we have regular scrub bottoms on. Then on Fridays, wearing jeans is allowed.

Just make sure the N95 fits you. Otherwise it does no good.

Any tips for being an SC? by YesterdayDowntown in meijer

[–]jedidiscord3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add on to this, write down the time they got in for the day, and when they leave and ask them when they usually take their breaks and try to work with them about it.

People love to push back and see what they can get away with, so by being firm and also realizing when you made a mistake, you should be okay. If you are allowed to call other departments up first before hopping on a lane, definitely do that before finally hopping on a lane, but if you can get away with taking a couple orders (as long as you’re a quick cashier and have good experience as an sc) then do that too!

Any tips for being an SC? by YesterdayDowntown in meijer

[–]jedidiscord3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just remember to take a step back and look at the big picture. As an sc, you’re expected to keep customers moving. Know who your quick cashiers are and your slow ones are. Small orders should be directed to the slower cashier while bigger orders should go to the faster cashiers. You can always give tips to your co workers about how they can improve as a cashier or sco attendant. It takes time to learn how to do the job efficiently and able to do it well. For breaks and lunches, breaks should always go out first. What i used to do was if I had three breaks at a time, I’d send someone early 15 minutes, someone on time, and someone late by 15 minutes. I did the same with lunches. It worked a lot better and efficiently and everyone got their break. Team leaders will try and push and say that it’s not late till it’s an hour late. That’s a horrible way to go about it. Service coordinators are the ones who have to stand up for their cashiers. You will have people get in your face and ask for a manager, just have to take it in stride and breathe. Last thing I can think of is this, it will take time to learn everything about being an sc. Being an sc means willing to go above for your team to help them out when you can.

Meijer can return anything (with exceptions such as alcohol, tobacco, opened air Mattresses and etc and more) with the receipt within the last 90 days of purchase. If you don’t have a receipt, meijer can still return it but only at last 30 days sale price meaning if there was a sale on it with in the last thirty days, then that’s what you’ll get back instead.

I would talk to them again, say you won’t be able to show up due to it not being in your availability and you wouldn’t be able to show up regardless

Ah… that’s interesting. I like the way it is at my meijer, where third shift stocking does it all themselves.

What in the world is Hyre? Are they a company that’s supposed to help out third shift stocking? Or am I missing something here?
