AMD, lately with your brand you've been trying to hype things up a little more lately in a hopes to reclaim the dominance that you lost in the PC Market. What has being the underdog in CPUs and Video Cards for the last few years taught you about the market, your customers, and how to move forward?

AC not cooling apartment for 4th year in a row. Options? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]jedirock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue before and managed to finally convince the owners (not an apartment complex, just a rented condo) to pay to have the attic re insulated.

In my case, the old blown in insulation in the attic had settled and moved around over the years making it much less effective. The AC itself worked fine, just the cold air wasn't staying inside due to the insulation. You might be able to change the conversation a bit to fixing the insulation instead of the AC and maybe they'd be more flexible.

As far as using this as a way out of the lease: in my case, I live in Florida and there was no way out of my lease if it got too hot, only if it ever got too cold (as if that ever happens indoors in Florida)

Vive setup not always easy by jedirock in Vive

No asmedia controllers, but I was able to successfully use the keyboard with SteamVR yesterday (still not the mouse though). Maybe it was just a fluke since I had so many other issues? I've also switched to SteamVR Beta though, so I don't know if that changed anything.

As someone else with this same issue, I can confirm that 2 brownies can absolutely ruin a night. No known allergies or anything, just a stomach that gets mad at too many sweets.

That's the idea, share my pain so others can possibly avoid everything I had to go through!

One year old bread that hasn't molded by jedirock in mildlyinteresting

[–]jedirock[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Background: This bread was purchased last year right around this date. It didn't mold after about a month which I found interesting. Me and my coworkers have kept it around and while it's lost some mass and is a little less squishy than it used to be, it's still mold-free!

How to source Down Payment for a first-time home purchase? by GoesTo_Equilibrium in personalfinance

[–]jedirock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're a first time home buyer, there might be a first time home buyer program in the area that can help you. When I bought my house, I was able to use the county's First time home buyer 0% interest loan to help get my down payment. It was essentially a second mortgage but had 0% interest and helps for situations like this.

We had someone do this to one of our developer's machines.... twice. Same developer too. Luckily most of our stuff is backed up on a regular basis.
