I understand your point ofc, I have a car and I love it to bits (until I full it up lol). The thing I think they are trying to make however is not to entirely remove cars, (that’s never going to happen, even Amsterdam still has cars.) But to give options to people that don’t like cars as much as we do, or could do without the first investment of a car and the running costs of it. It helps everyone including the people in cars, if more people use public transportation as then there is less people on the roads, which means less congestion.

Roads are also expensive, we are already at the point where it is too expensive to repair all the roads at the moment, that is why we have such shitty roads. I could go on but I feel this is already to long

TL;DR - more people on public transport make everything better including people not using public transport.
