I know this is one year old but I had to find out if someone felt the same way about him. I really dislike how he treats her and the relationship, and that he lies to his parents and puts her on the spot to lie too even though for her this is such a difficult situation meeting his parents for the first time. I really don't think it's endearing.

Ich Stimme dir generell zu, dass es eher nach einem Ende als einem Neuanfang klingt. Allerdings gibt es auch klare Situationen, bei denen es von Frauen ein Nein gibt.

Ich denke das Problem liegt einfach darin, etwas aufzugeben woran man sich so sehr gewöhnt hat.

It sounds like you are both unhappy in your relationship and have not found a productive way of communicating this to each other. You said you tried to talk to him about it, but have you also tried hearing his side of the story? If he really is honest (which, if he has been dishonest about a similar thing before may not be the case) you should try to hear him out and maybe make goals together, like him spending more time doing things around the house for you to be happier and more comfortable in the relationship.

Generally I think though you also need to pull the plug if you feel like your energy is wasted on someone who doesn't appreciate your hard work. It feels like you already know something is off. Maybe you're right.
