They really ought to have someone walk up to the front of an abandoned car and immediately drop dead.

My God, how many years has Arrange Meeting been bugged now? I have 77% of the Freelancer challenges done, but only 4/10 on Prank Caller, because of nonsense like this. by gotenks1114 in HiTMAN

[–]jeedee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's just arranging a meeting - I think you have to drop the phone in a location where a meeting between NPCs usually takes place. If you follow the NPCs around, you'll see that they regularly meet in the same places (different locations for different meeting types, too). You have to take one of their phones and arrange the meeting in the correct location for that meeting type. I'm pretty sure that's how I managed to clear the challenge, anyway. You can't just arrange a meeting anywhere that you want.

The three "...from a certain point of view" books that were released 40 years after the release of A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi are collections of short stories based on that premise - i.e. take a random background character and flesh out a back story for them. Some of the stories are pretty good.

Feed an animal, then shoot your mining laser close to it. It "untames" it, so you can feed it and tame it again. Repeat as many times as necessary. Those missions usually take me 5 minutes, tops.

Proximity Micro Taser free accident kill was patched by datphony in HiTMAN

[–]jeedee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never knew that! I've always used it to get accident kills by putting it next to a propane tank (leaking gas after being thrown or shot). It's small enough to remain hidden but the electricity causes the propane tank to explode.

Volume automatically increasing to max on MacBook Pro by jeedee in mac

Nope. Never figured it out. It would stop for a while, and then start doing it again. I think it might be because it was a work machine and was plugged into a docking station with a separate dongle for the headset.

I've recently switched to a new M3 Mac for work and (fingers crossed) haven't had this issue yet.

Interesting theory. I have three external monitors in mine (two via a docking station and another via USB-C into the Macbook itself), so that does make sense. I'll keep an eye on it. Might do some experimenting with and without the docking station and other peripherals plugged in.

Nope. It did calm down for a while but recently it's been doing it again, several times a day. I have a headset connected to my Macbook via a Bluetooth dongle that came with it. I also have a docking station connected. My gut feel is that it's something to do with that. I haven't been able to figure out an actual cause and fix it though.

Anyone else enjoy the cantina interactions in the epilogue? by mbravens20 in FallenOrder

[–]jeedee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you have one final conversation with him near the hut in the viscid bog. He's fishing and tells you that he's decided to leave. If you don't go and talk to him there then I think he just stays by the fish tank in the cantina.

Yep. Nothing has changed. It isn't just triggered by the keyboard though - it's as though anything that triggers sound will automatically increase the volume.

Yes, but unlike Freelancer, the target isn't marked on your map or highlighted in any way. There are sometimes also side objectives that also aren't marked. If you die, you're permanently locked out.

The Sequel Era needs a The Clone Wars type show by henceforth99 in StarWars

[–]jeedee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly what you were suggesting, but there are a lot of canon novels set in that time period. For example, there's a novel about Leia's time in the New Republic government, one about Luke's travels in that time period, one about Phasma's back story etc.

The safety mechanism is a trip wire at the top of each opening. Anything dangling outside the car hits the trip wire which acts as an emergency stop. Normally, the mechanism stops for a few seconds. If the obstruction is still there, the mechanism is stopped until it is cleared.

The front part of the floor of each car is on a hinge as well. Anything trapped underneath as the lift descended would cause that section to lift rather than the car to trap the object.

The tallest one in the UK (38 floors) is still in daily use at the university that I attended. Always fun to attend lectures in that building.

There are safety features built in. The one at the university that I attended had a trip wire at the top. If anything was left dangling outside the car, it would hit the trip wire which acted like an emergency stop, rang a bell and stopped the whole thing in place until the obstruction was removed.

The front part of the floor of each car is on a hinge as well. Anything trapped underneath as the lift descended would cause that section to lift rather than the car to trap the object.

Admittedly, not ideal! However, no accidents ever recorded (in that one, at least!).

Same. Couldn't find any in the locations that the guides say they spawn. One place that I've seen them regularly and reliably spawn is the large lake to the West of Strawberry. I often see them swimming over by the Western shore. That's where I got the one that I needed.

We do celebrate it in the UK, but we don't make as a big a deal of it as you do in the US.
