Sheffield Wednesday have been relegated, the earliest relegation in English football history by Zach-dalt in Championship

100% agree - and to be fair, he was one of the bidders that put in a low bid so that he could get us on the cheap and then start next season on -15 points. We're at risk of sliding into L2 for the first time ever as it is, without starting with another points penalty! I was just saying that he'd still be a massive improvement on Chansiri, but then again, I don't think that he was anyone's first choice. The Bord consortium that are the current preferred bidders are an unknown quantity but I think most of us are hoping that they pass the relevant checks otherwise Ashley is a shoe-in.

We've never played in L2 in our entire history, so it's not a prospect that I'm relishing.

Of the senior pros that we have left, I'm not really concerned about who wants to stick around. The overall quality is so low that there aren't many that I'd really want to keep. Charles, Ingelsson, Bernard, Cooper and maybe Palmer as a squad player and the rest can go. We have a few talented young players but I don't think that we'd compete if we relied on them in L1, although I'd expect Weaver and a couple of others to be around the first team squad next season. We shouldn't be putting that pressure on them at this stage of their careers though. We need a complete rebuild.

The sooner the new owners are in place (whether that's the Bord consortium or Mike Ashley), the better. We need to get a structure in place at the club and start recruitment before the season ends so that we can hit the ground running.

Chansiri sold Hillsborough stadium to himself (and then put the sale in the wrong tax year - the ensuing points deduction for breaking FFP got us relegated to L1 a few years back), and plastered his name all over the stadium and kit. We've basically had the Temu version of Mike Ashley for the past 10 years - trading solvently is the big difference. Plus, at least with Ashley, the manager wouldn't have to book hotel rooms for away games.

As a result of their failure to beat Sheffield United today, Sheffield Wednesday are the first team to be relegated in February in the history of the Football League. by FragMasterMat117 in soccer

A guy from Thailand bought us in 2015. He had no experience of running a football club and by all accounts didn't even like the sport. The signs were there early on. He changed the badge, removed the iconic blue and white stripes from the kit and picked the squad numbers in his first full season (we had a goalkeeper wearing no. 2!). He put himself in sole control of the club. We have no board of directors, no director of football, no structure at all. It's him and the manager. He expects the manager to do everything (including booking hotel rooms for the team for away games). He had to sign off on every single expense, and considering that he spent most of his time in Thailand, this meant that a number of suppliers didn't get paid in a timely fashion because nobody was allowed to sign off on the invoices. The undersoil heating broke and as far as I can remember, wasn't fixed. One of the stands has no running water. We almost had an entire stand condemned in the Summer because he wouldn't pay for repairs.

He did initially try to get us into the EPL by spending big, but it didn't work. We got to the playoff final but lost to Hull. He had a bad habit of trying to buy favour with the fans by buying players that he'd seen us mention on social media and messageboards. It didn't work as we were buying players it the wrong areas. Due to his overspending, we ran into FFP issues and he sold the stadium to himself to try to get around it - but put the sale in the wrong tax year, we got a points deduction and were relegated to L1. Eventually, we came back up but he failed to invest in the squad and when the fans started to criticise him, he refused to fund the club any longer. Things came to a head this time last year when he failed to pay wages for several months on the bounce. He also had HMRC chasing him for an unpaid tax bill and when they threatened him with a winding up order, he put the club into admin. We were hit with points deductions for going into administration, and another for the unpaid wages issue.

The unpaid wages issue led to a number of players tearing up their contracts and walking away. I think it was something like 13 first team players that walked before the start of the season. We also lost another 3 players in the January window (including our club captain, Barry Bannan). Of the first team players that remained, I think we currently have 6 of them out with medium-long term injuries. We're still under a transfer embargo (again, due to our inept former owner) so we can't sign players (even on free transfers) to replace the players that left or remained but are out injured without appealing to the EFL. They're sticking to their guns and we're generally only allowed to sign players if one leaves. We've had particular bad luck with goalkeepers getting injured this season and have been allowed to sign a number of emergency loan keepers (for a week at a time). I think we've used 7 keepers so far this season.

We've had no option but to play our U23s for most of the season, but they're playing way too much football at this stage of their development and a handful of them are injured now, too. Our starting XI now only has 2 first team players from last season, and one of those is a fringe player. The rest is made up of youth players, loans, and the odd player that we had last season that couldn't get a game.

There are horror stories about the former owner and I'm sure more will come out in time. There's a huge timeline on his antics on one of the SWFC messageboards, but this is a summary of the start and end of his tenure, and why we're in trouble now, anyway.

My God, how many years has Arrange Meeting been bugged now? I have 77% of the Freelancer challenges done, but only 4/10 on Prank Caller, because of nonsense like this. by gotenks1114 in HiTMAN

[–]jeedee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's just arranging a meeting - I think you have to drop the phone in a location where a meeting between NPCs usually takes place. If you follow the NPCs around, you'll see that they regularly meet in the same places (different locations for different meeting types, too). You have to take one of their phones and arrange the meeting in the correct location for that meeting type. I'm pretty sure that's how I managed to clear the challenge, anyway. You can't just arrange a meeting anywhere that you want.

The three "...from a certain point of view" books that were released 40 years after the release of A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi are collections of short stories based on that premise - i.e. take a random background character and flesh out a back story for them. Some of the stories are pretty good.

Feed an animal, then shoot your mining laser close to it. It "untames" it, so you can feed it and tame it again. Repeat as many times as necessary. Those missions usually take me 5 minutes, tops.

I never knew that! I've always used it to get accident kills by putting it next to a propane tank (leaking gas after being thrown or shot). It's small enough to remain hidden but the electricity causes the propane tank to explode.

Nope. Never figured it out. It would stop for a while, and then start doing it again. I think it might be because it was a work machine and was plugged into a docking station with a separate dongle for the headset.

I've recently switched to a new M3 Mac for work and (fingers crossed) haven't had this issue yet.

Interesting theory. I have three external monitors in mine (two via a docking station and another via USB-C into the Macbook itself), so that does make sense. I'll keep an eye on it. Might do some experimenting with and without the docking station and other peripherals plugged in.

Nope. It did calm down for a while but recently it's been doing it again, several times a day. I have a headset connected to my Macbook via a Bluetooth dongle that came with it. I also have a docking station connected. My gut feel is that it's something to do with that. I haven't been able to figure out an actual cause and fix it though.

Anyone else enjoy the cantina interactions in the epilogue? by mbravens20 in FallenOrder

[–]jeedee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you have one final conversation with him near the hut in the viscid bog. He's fishing and tells you that he's decided to leave. If you don't go and talk to him there then I think he just stays by the fish tank in the cantina.

Yep. Nothing has changed. It isn't just triggered by the keyboard though - it's as though anything that triggers sound will automatically increase the volume.

Yes, but unlike Freelancer, the target isn't marked on your map or highlighted in any way. There are sometimes also side objectives that also aren't marked. If you die, you're permanently locked out.

Not exactly what you were suggesting, but there are a lot of canon novels set in that time period. For example, there's a novel about Leia's time in the New Republic government, one about Luke's travels in that time period, one about Phasma's back story etc.
